Singer Melissa Etheridge’s son Beckett dies from opioid addiction at aged 21

Melissa Etheridge’s team has confirmed the tragic news that her son, Beckett Cypher, has died.

As per reports, the 21-year-old died as a result of a struggle with opioid addiction

The initial tweet from Melissa’s team read: “We’re sad to inform you that Melissa’s son Beckett passed away and there will not be a Concerts From Home show today. — #TeamME.”

Beckett is Melissa’s son with her ex Julie Cypher. The pair had two children via artificial insemination whilst together. The biological father of both kids is rock singer David Crosby.

Melissa herself appeared to confirm that the cause of her son’s passing was a struggle with an opioid addiction.

“My son Beckett, who was just 21, struggled to overcome his addiction and finally succumbed to it today,” she said in statement shared to her Twitter page.

“He will be missed by those who loved him, his family and friends.

“My heart is broken. I am grateful for those who have reached out with condolences and I feel their love and sincere grief.

“We struggle with what else we could have done to save him, and in the end we know he is out of the pain now.”

Rest in peace, Beckett, we hope you’re free from pain and resting now in the Lord’s garden.
