A single mother from Chelsea, Michigan is in the hospital recovering after she ran into her burning home to save her four young children.
Mikala Vish’s home caught fire while she was inside with her children, and she managed to get them all out. She and her 6-year-old suffered burns to their bodies, but they are all alive thanks to her heroic actions.
The fire occurred Tuesday while Mikala was home with her children, ages 13, 6, 4, and 9 months.
Despite the rapid spreading of the fire, she was able to get three of her children to safety.
But her 6-year-old, Torin, was still trapped inside.
“As I understand, it was an inferno and she just braced herself for it until she found Torin,” her mom, Susan Sutton, told Fox 2 Detroit.
Mikala suffered second and third-degree burns over 60% of her body, while Torin also suffered burns “on his hands, feet, and back.”
The mother of four, who is “wrapped up like a mummy” and unable to talk, is awake and aware of her situation.
Both she and her son will undergo skin graft surgery soon.
Brynna Klink, the wife of one of the firefighters who responded to the fire, started a GoFundMe to help Mikala and her family.
More than $220,000 has been raised.
“Every mom thinks they would do that, but they don’t have to. It’s never actually a real thing,” Brynna said. “This mom risked her life for her children and she lost everything.”
Wow! Mikala is one brava mama. We all say we’d run into a burning building to save our loved ones, but when the time comes who knows what we’d actually do.
Please share this one Facebook and pray for Mikala and her family.
