Superman star Dean Cain, 56, makes drastic decision on his future

Celebrities seem keen to get out of Hollywood at the moment, and Dean Cain‘s name can now be added to the list of those to have up and left the Sunshine State for pastures new.

According to reports, the Superman actor has become the latest high-profile actor to turn his back on California as a result of its spiraling crime rates, high taxes, and unchecked homelessness.

The 56-year-old, who starred as Superman between 1993 to 1997, made clear in no uncertain terms his reasons for wanting to move away from Hollywood, joining a host of his peers who have taken similar action of late.

Cain told Fox News earlier this week: “I love California. It’s the most beautiful state. Everything’s wonderful about it except for the policies. The policies are just terrible. The fiscal policies, the soft-on-crime policies, the homelessness policies.”

“The things that our leaders in California have been doing have driven out anybody who can really afford to get out. People are flocking out of there in droves.”

And that they certainly seem to be. The likes of the aforementioned Mark Wahlberg, Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban, Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively, as well as certain others, have all bid farewell to Hollywood in recent times.

Last year, Wahlberg explained: “I want to be able to work from home. I moved to California many years ago to pursue acting, and I’ve only made a couple of movies in the entire time that I was there,” he said.

“So, to be able to give my kids a better life and follow and pursue their dreams, whether it be my daughter as an equestrian, my son as a basketball player, my younger son as a golfer, this made a lot more sense for us.”

As for Dean Cain, the actor is said to have sold his Malibu property for $6.25 million last month and, like Wahlberg, relocated to Nevada.

“I’ve been here for two weeks now, and I can tell you, [it’s a] smart move… my son is ten times happier here in Las Vegas. If I wanted to do anything out of Malibu, it took me 45 minutes to an hour to get anywhere. Here, the longest I’m driving is 20 minutes,” Cain said.

The former Ripley’s Believe It or Not! host added: “Obviously, Mark Wahlberg is a huge star in and drives a huge number of dollars to the films that he does. Bless him for it. I think he’s done something very smart for his family.

“Mark did a smart thing, and, hopefully, I believe I’ve done a very, very smart thing.”
