1 ingredient is the only thing needed for a shiny clean sink – everyone needs to try this

Lime buildup in sinks or around drains is certainly not the prettiest of sights. It’s formed from deposits of minerals – usually calcium – on porcelain or metal. If we’re honest, it can sometimes seem impossible to get rid of.

However, I recently heard of something that completely changes the game. With the help of one unlikely household ingredient, you can take a limescaled sink and return it to its best days in no time at all.

As with a surprising amount of other household problems, the answer lies in vinegar.

The first thing to do is pour vinegar solution into a small bowl.

After this, you need to source an unwanted piece of cloth. A shred from an old, dirty t-shirt you no longer want can suffice. You also need a cleaning sponge, though one that promises not to scratch your surfaces.

Wipe the sink so that it’s completely dry, then dip the cloth into the bowl of vinegar and tie it around the tap. If needs be, you can pour more vinegar on top to ensure the cloth is thoroughly soaked.

Now, leave it for an hour. Once the time has passed, remove the cloth and return it to the bowl of vinegar again.

Take the sponge and scrub at the area you’ve just had covered. You should see the limescale begin to loosen and come off.

After a short time, you’ll be left with a shining sink. If necessary, repeat the process until you get the required results.

If limescale is present in more than one place, you can move the cloth to other parts of the sink and allow it to soak for an hour.

So, there you have it. No strange cleaning agents, no harmful chemicals… just plain old vinegar. The acetic acid will dissolve lime buildup and your sink will be as good as new.

Clever, right?
