Few things are as nerve-racking as the first few seconds after realizing your child is missing.
You try to keep your calm, but remaining level headed is the last thing on your mind as you rush to find your missing child.
Krista Piper Grundey, 36, and her children were hanging out in the massive play area of a museum they frequented when her youngest, three-year-old Lily, suddenyl disappeared.
In a TikTok of her own, Grundey shared how she was able to locate her daughter thanks in part to a clip she saw on the social media app months earlier.
The 36-year-old mother explained how after taking her eyes off her daughter for a few seconds she seemingly disappeared into the sea of children.
Her first instinct was to start yelling her daughter’s name.
“I started calling her name,” Grundey said. “Right after I started calling her name a little light bulb went off in my head.”
The mother of two recalled a video she previously watched on TikTok about a mother who lost her child in a grocery store.
“Instead of yelling out the kid’s name, she yelled out the description of what her child was wearing, and she was able to find her kid way faster.”
Grundey stopped calling her daughter’s name and quickly switched to yelling, “little girl, pink shirt, pink Minnie Mouse shirt.”
Soon, other moms in the play area joined in.
Although it felt like an “eternity,” Lily was found within two minutes.
Grundey hopes her story reaches other parents, so should they find themselves in a similar situation they can be prepared.
This is such an important message. Please share this so other parents will be informed.
