Video shows Rami Malek perfectly imitate Freddie Mercury’s moves in ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’

Acotr’s who play characters in biopics have huge challenges ahead of them. It can be incredibly daunting to play another person from real life, deceased or alive.

But we’ve certainly seen many actors put on exceptional performances throughout the years: and it appears we need to add Rami Malek to the list.

Rami Malek recently portrayed Freddie Mercury in ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’, and while the film got mixed reviews, the actor is receiving accolades for his performance.

Now, a scene from the film in which Malek depicts Freddie Mercury during an iconic performance is going viral — thanks to a video highlighting just how exacting this actor managed to be!

In preparing for this huge role, Rami Malek carefully studied all aspects of Freddie Mercury — and from his performance in it, it’s quite clear that the talented actor’s efforts paid off.

A video was created by @ThisGameisEasy then posted on Twitter by Best of Freddie Mercury. It depicts Queens’ 1985 Live Aid performance and just how similar Malek’s performance in the film is.

The tremendous performance was a result of hard work and dedication. Malek is reported to have watched Freddie Mercury’s video on YouTube more than 1,500 times to perfect his movies.

“That’s something we tried to get move for move, even just gesture for gesture perfectly,” Malek told news.com.au. “Every day we did (filmed) a song.”

“It felt like sometimes you would lose a little bit of the authenticity if you tried to nail it so perfectly,” Malek added. “Things won’t exactly always match up, there might be a hint of something that’s off, but I think that kept it feeling really alive and at the moment and it was better to sacrifice it that way, but yeah, I was watching it non-stop.”

The movie producers also worked hard to replicate other parts of Freddie Mercury’s clothes to give the film the most authentic feel. “All the costumes, his kimonos — some of those we had reprinted,” said Malek.

People have been raving about Malek’s performance since that viral video emerged.

“That is amazing omg wow. If Rami isn’t nominated for an Oscar for this performance I will riot,” one Twitter user wrote.

According to the New York Times, Malek is reportedly an actor who is relentless at trying to perfect every detail.

Even when the director was satisfied with the take, he might not be satisfied and insisted on a new take, no matter how worn out he felt.

“I don’t want to leave until I know it’s been executed as best as possible,” Malek said. “I know my limits, but I do reach them quite a bit,” Malek said, adding that he has never devoted himself as intensely to anything as this role.

Sounds like the movie might be worth seeing to me!
