17-year-old Zack Clements collapsed and was without a heartbeat for more than 20 minutes before doctors revived him – and during that time, he claims he saw Jesus.
When Zack Clements suddenly collapsed during P.E. class at school in 2015, everything happened quickly. He was rushed to the hospital, and doctors later said he had no heartbeat for more than 20 minutes before they were finally able to revive him, according to CBS News.
While doctors were fighting to save his life, Zack says he was experiencing something entirely different. During his near-death experience, he claims he saw Jesus.
“When I was out those 20 minutes, I saw a man who had long ruffled hair and kind of a thick beard, and it didn’t take me long to realize that that was Jesus,” he said, according to CBS News.
He also claims he received a message.
“I went up to him and he put his hand on my shoulder and he told me everything would be alright and not to worry.”
Says he knows what Jesus looks like
Zack’s parents also believe their son’s recovery was a miracle and the result of divine intervention.
“For him to wake up and tell us something he experienced like that. It’s just you can’t explain it. It’s not humanly possible to explain it,” Zack’s dad, Billy Clements, said.
His mother, Teresa Clements, added: “I’m just glad he decided to let me have my baby back.”
In an interview with PEOPLE, Teresa shared more details about what Zack told her afterward.
“He said that he saw a line of angels and in the middle was the prettiest one of all – Jesus.”
According to Zack, the experience seems to be something he will never forget.
“It made me feel like someone was watching over me and I was going to get through it. Since it happened, I feel like I’m a stronger person,” he told PEOPLE.
