17-year-old who went missing in 2015 while walking his dogs found injured, but alive 8 years later

A 17-year-old who disappeared in 2015 while walking his two dogs in northwest Houston, Texas in 2015 has been found safe.

According to local reports, Rudy Farias was found unresponsive outside of a church. He reportedly had cuts and bruises all over his body and blood in his hair.

He is now recovering in a hospital.

Rudy was 17 years old when he went missing March 6, 2015.

The teen’s dogs were recovered, but Rudy never returned home. The startling discovery prompted his family to report him missing.

Authorities searched for the teen for several days before suspending the search on March 10. Two days later, on March 12, 2015, after officials had gathered more information they restarted the search only to end it the following day.

At the time, authorities reported Rudy had been suffering from depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, and anxiety, and it was possible he was disoriented from not taking his medication.

8 years later

On Sunday, July 2, 2023 the Texas Center for the Missing revealed Rudy had been “located safe.”

“Please continue to keep his family in your prayers as Rudy recovers in the hospital,” the organization said on Twitter.

Rudy’s mother told KTRK she believes her son was abused.

She said that while she’s tried talking to her now 25-year-old son, he’s only able to say a few words at a time and curl into the fetal position.

She knows it will be a long journey towards healing for her son, but is grateful that he made it home alive.
