As medical science evolves, it has become easier and easier for women to have healthy pregnancies a bit more later in life than they could in the past.

It seems actress Trina McGee has done the same thing. Keep reading to learn more about how the actress got pregnant at the age of 54!

Getting pregnant at the age of 54 years old is not an everyday occurrence and actress Trina McGee from Boy Meets World fame completely recognizes that. Now that she has announced that she is pregnant at 54, she is sharing how she achieved this rare feat.

The actress recently gave an interview where she shared how she has been dealing with the common pregnancy symptoms these days, mostly hunger, nausea, and exhaustion. But despite all of that, she is incredibly happy!

“Just sheer joy, sheer joy, and I don’t partake in any of the negativity anybody has to say about it. I am so happy. I have been blessed, and that’s it,” she said. She went on to say, “And all I’m concerned about — I only have one job now – is to have this baby, and that’s what I’m about.

McGee already has three children, with her eldest, Ramia, being 31 years old. Her second child is Langston, 29, and her youngest is Ezra, 25. She shares two children with her ex-husband, Courtland Davis. And her third child is from another previous relationship. Her fourth baby is with her current husband, Marcello Thedford, whom she has been married to for almost twenty years.

According to McGee, Thedford is already a dad to a son, Elijah, from a previous relationship. The couple had always hoped to welcome a child together. However, things did not work out for them until she took a more holistic and organic approach to fertility. The actress shared how she was a year into menopause already when the welcome miracle came to fruition.

“I have been saying I wanted to have a baby with my current husband of 16 years for quite a while,” she said they had been trying to conceive for a while without any other medical intervention. For a while, they also considered IVF but decided against it. As a last resort, she sought help in Belize, where Thedford has a “cultural background.”

The couple worked with the Garifuna people there on natural remedies, and they said that they helped her reverse menopause and helped them conceive a child. She prefaced her conversation with the fact that she is not a medical doctor, but that the advice of “shamans” in Belize to take medicinal herbs really helped her achieve her goal.

She also credits herself for reversing her menopause signs because she keeps a low-stress environment.

“The number one thing for me is to not partake in any stress and stay away from negativity as much as I can, and that pertains to what I put on TV, what I — what I look at on my phone, you know, there’s so much drama and violence and negativity out there as soon as you turn on the screen,” she said. “I really want to be pointed when I turn on the screen — what I’m watching. Because stress, for me, is the biggest factor.”

She also tends to keep herself away from social media to aid her journey of reducing stress in her life. As she shared the news of her pregnancy on the platform, she told her followers she would be taking a break from the platform.

She posted her pregnancy announcement on Instagram, saying, “At the tender age of 54 I have found myself pregnant. Please bless us with your prayers for a safe delivery. Thank you.” The song “Baby Love” by The Supremes played in the background.

People were quick to comment. One person wrote, “Y’all are just putting your life and that babys potential life at risk at that point….” While another added some strong words, “That’s not fair on the baby, would strongly recommend abortion.”

Another Instagram user chimed in, saying, “Kinda sucks to be the kid … both its parents will probably be dead before it reaches 25.”

The actress herself has described her pregnancy as a “Miracle, beautiful and triumphant.”

As for people who might criticize her decision to have a child so late in life, she simply said, “It’s an individual decision, but be realistic about it. Be realistic about your lifespan — make provisions. And understand that when you do have a baby at this age, what you should have for them is a lot of wisdom — and that’s the beauty of the situation.”

As for whether she would want to have another child after this one she was enthusiastic and said, “If the ‘Most High’ allows me to have a sibling with them [this baby], yes, I would do that, I would.”
