Melania Trump has made it her life’s calling to protect and support her son, Barron.
Last fall, Barron left Palm Beach, Florida, and moved back to New York City, where he now attends Stern Business School at New York University. Donald Trump has previously stated that they chose between several schools for Barron, though a new rumor is spreading online suggesting he wasn’t even accepted at one of them.
In light of that, Melania Trump has decided to put an end to speculation.
After years of living at the White House – and later in Palm Beach, Florida – Barron Trump is back in his home city of New York. Last fall, the 18-year-old son of Donald Trump enrolled at Stern Business School at New York University (NYU).
Speaking with The Daily Mail last year, Donald explained that his son considered following in his footsteps by attending the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School. Ultimately, however, he chose to pursue further education in New York City.
Stern Business School is considered one of America’s best business schools. Only 1 in 20 applicants make it into the undergraduate program.
“It’s a very high-quality place. He liked it. He liked the school,” Donald said. “We liked NYU. I’ve known NYU for a long time, but it’s one of the highest-rated schools.”
“I went to Wharton, and that was certainly one that we were considering. We didn’t do that,” Trump continued. “We went for Stern. He’s a very high-aptitude child, but he’s no longer a child. He’s just passed into something beyond childhood, he’s doing great.”
Barron Trump
As with his high school life in Palm Beach, Florida, little is known about Barron’s school performance and social life. In December, his mother, Melania gave some insight into what Barron’s college experience is like. According to her, he won’t be able to enjoy college life like his peers, simply because of who he is.
“I don’t think it’s possible for him to be a normal student. His experience at college — it’s very different than any other kid,” the First Lady told Fox, adding that her son is a “very strong and he knows that he’s in a different position than other children.”
Being the son of the President of the United States, as well as a real estate mogul and television star, presents a tricky situation for Barron. The Secret Service follows him around campus and drives him to and from school, which would naturally be intimidating for anyone wanting to interact with him.
As Melania stated, Barron can’t really have a “normal” college experience, though one thing that college can give any student is friends for life. Exactly who Barron is hanging out with is currently not known.
However, according to TMZ, he is attempting to make friends in a rather unconventional manner. The news outlet states that Barron has turned to online gaming, inviting classmates to play with him in the virtual world.
TMZ reported that Barron invited them to join him on the popular gaming platform Discord, where users play games and chat with each other. Since he’s a big soccer fan, he plays the popular video game EA Sports FC 25.
Was Barron Trump rejected by Harvard?
Meanwhile, a People Magazine source has claimed he is well-liked among the girls.
“He’s at Stern, so he’s studying business in some way,” they told People. “He’s a ladies man for sure, he’s really popular with the ladies, he’s tall and handsome. A lot of people seem to think he’s pretty attractive — yes, even liberal people like him.”
As mentioned, not much is known about Barron’s life or academic performance at school. Even so, the fact that he applied to some of the best schools in the US tells us something about his performance in high school. That said, not long ago, a rumor spread claiming that the idea Barron could choose any school he wanted wasn’t true.
Nicki Swift cited online rumors that stated Barron was rejected by three major schools: Harvard, Columbia, and Stanford. A Facebook user sparked the rumors, writing: “Guess what colleges didn’t accept Barron Trump? Harvard. Stanford. Columbia. Any college Trump is attacking — are the ones that with all of his money they said ‘no endowment will let him in.”
The popular fact-checking outlet Snopes investigated the claims made about Barron being rejected from Harvard, Columbia, and Stanford. They, however, couldn’t verify it, stating that “there is no evidence that these universities rejected Barron Trump.”
Melania Trump shuts down rumors about Barron being rejected by Harvard
While the rumors have not been confirmed or denied, Melania has now decided to put the matter to rest once and for all. Through her spokesperson, the First Lady of the United States said the rumors are “completely false.”
“Barron did not apply to Harvard and any assertion that he, or that anyone on his behalf, applied is completely false,” Nick Clemens, spokesperson for the Office of the First Lady, told Snopes.
Interestingly, Harvard is one of many universities targeted by Donald Trump, who claims they haven’t done enough to protect Jewish students.
He’s also claimed that Harvard is anti-Semitic following the massive protests for the Israel-Hamas war that broke out on campus, while asserting that the Ivy League school brings in too many international students. The battle has escalated, and several lawsuits have been filed.
