Barron Trump has lived a life in secrecy, shielded from the press and public life by his parents, Donald and Melania Trump. The youngest son of the soon-to-be sworn-in president has lived in Florida since Donald left the White House and recently graduated from high school. Now, he is attending New York University, and the Secret Service is following his every step.
Barron Trump has always been known to be a very tall guy, and as he appeared alongside his father to celebrate the election victory, the talk of the town was the same.
Although he hasn’t been seen with his father during the presidential campaign, Donald Trump has revealed something extraordinary. Barron appears to have had a crucial role in the path towards returning to the White House.
Barron Trump lived in the White House when his father, Donald Trump, was president for the first time. The young boy was barely seen in public—except for a few times arriving and departing with the helicopter from the White House lawn—and it’s been the same since their departure from 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
Throughout their time in the White House, Melania wanted to protect her son from scrutiny, especially since being the president’s son brings many challenges. Their mother-son bond has always been powerful, and after they left the White House, the family moved to their Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida.

Barron Trump enrolled at the wealthy private school Oxbridge Academy. Once there, information about Barron and his progress was even harder to come by. The school, Donald and Melania, and the Secret Service did all they could to shield Barron from the press and scrutiny. Just months ago, though, the Daily Mail revealed new details about the president’s life at Oxbridge Academy.
The Secret Service was said to have followed him wherever he went, and he attended his classes under a different name. Agents followed him around campus, stood outside the classroom door, and even escorted him to the bathroom.
Barron was reportedly registered under Jack in school records and computers to protect his data and grades from possible hackers. The teenager didn’t participate in sports and had meals separate from his peers.
Speaking with the Daily Mail, a former student said it was a “shame” that Barron didn’t get to enjoy high school like the rest of the students.
“Barron was very funny and sociable. He would start the most random conversations and could be very entertaining,” the friend told the Daily Mail.
“He was also very mysterious, he never attended football games or dances. I don’t think he met up with anyone outside of school or went on dates. If he had a girlfriend, it was top secret we never knew about it.”
“He’s a very smart guy”
The friend concluded: “I’m sure he had fun in his own way but it was a bit of a shame that he didn’t get to have a normal high school life like everyone else.”
Barron Trump graduated from Oxbridge Academy on May 17, and his parents were in attendance as he walked up on stage to accept his diploma. Before it had been confirmed that he would enroll at New York University, his father, Donald, decided to speak about his youngest son. The former president updated the world on Barron, stating that the teenager had done excellent at Oxbridge.
“He’s amazing actually, in a certain way,” Trump said on Fox & Friends Weekend Sunday. “He’s tall, good-looking…a very good student. And he’s applied to colleges and gets into everywhere he goes. He’s very sought after from a standpoint, he’s a very smart guy, he’s a very tall guy. And he’s a great kid. He’s cool, he’s pretty cool, I’ll tell ya.”
As mentioned, Barron Trump began his studies at New York University. According to the Daily Mail, the 18-year-old arrived for his first day with Secret Service agents standing beside him. The Daily Mail said Barron will study at NUY’s Stern School of Business. An undergraduate program at the school usually takes four years to complete.
“It’s a very high-quality place. He liked it. He liked the school,” Donald Trump told the outlet. “I went to Wharton, and that was certainly one that we were considering. We didn’t do that. We went for Stern.”
Barron Trump – security at New York University
Barron Trump will receive extensive security as he begins his tenure at New York University. So, how will that exactly look? The Secret Service previously confirmed to The Independent that Barron will indeed receive protection, but they didn’t specify exactly how.
Meanwhile, US Secret Service Chief of Communications Anthony Guglielmi told Newsweek, “The President-elect has been receiving heightened Secret Service protection, and this level of security will be maintained moving forward.”
“While we cannot share specific details to ensure the integrity of our operations, family members and executive staff of the President-elect may also be afforded protection in accordance with federal law.”
Guglielmi concluded, “Enhanced security measures around Palm Beach County, Florida, and New York City are also being coordinated. The Secret Service is committed to working with local partners in these cities to keep the community informed about any potential impacts to the public.”
Barron Trump will not live at the White House as he did during his father’s last presidential term because of his studies. He will most likely continue living at Trump Tower, but whether his mother, Melania, will be at his side is still to be determined.
Will Melania Trump join Barron in New York?
A source told People Magazine that it’s “not likely” that Melania will live at the White House full-time.
“If Melania becomes first lady again, of course people expect her to move into the White House and perform appropriate duties,” a source close to the Trump family said, adding that Melania isn’t keen on relocating to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
“She will have her private living apartment there, and she has her home in New York and her home at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach. She will spend time in all of these places,” the source added.
Further, Mary Jordan, author of The Art of Her Deal: The Untold Story of Melania Trump, told ABC News about Melania, “She has told people, ‘Look, I’m not the one elected.’ So if she wants to go down to Mar-a-Lago and hang out by herself for two weeks, do that. But she is going to be in the White House. She loves a lot of the pomp and circumstance.”
So, what kind of protection is Barron Trump getting? Speaking with Newsweek, Paul Eckloff, a former Secret Service agent who worked with George W. Bush, Barack Obama, and Donald Trump, as well as their families, told Newsweek that a president’s child is considered a “soft target,” as per a law enforcement and military term.
Barron Trump branded future president by fans
That means “they are perceived to be less protected, which makes them vulnerable but also creates a dangerous environment for those around them.” Eckloff said that it could mean that Barron Trump could be “sitting in a student union–just as a hypothetical—and he may look alone, but he will not be alone. You will see [Secret Service agents] dressed as best as possible like students.”
Although Barron Trump has school to think about, the last days have been about celebrating his father’s victory in the 2024 Presidential Election. Moreover, it was an extraordinary day as the 18-year-old got to vote for the first time. Melania celebrated that her son cast his vote for the first time by posting a picture of him from behind at the booth.
“Voted for the first time – for his dad!” Melania wrote on X.
Fans quickly sent their best regards to Barron, and some even predicted his future – as president.
“That suit. The lines. Flawless. What a sharp young man!” one user wrote.
“I smell a Trump political dynasty,” another stated.
“Future President!” a third user wrote, with another replying, “2044,” as in the year he would become President of the United States.
Another user simply stated, “The future President.”
“Looking forward to voting for Barron one day!” another Trump fan wrote.
Donald Trump reveals crucial role Barron Turmp had during presidential campaign
Although Barron Trump hasn’t been seen at his father’s side during the campaign, he appears to have played a critical role that could have won his father the election.
Speaking with the Daily Mail, Donald Trump revealed that Barron helped him connect with Gen Z voters through influences and podcasters.
“He is — he knows so much about it. Adin Ross — you know, I mean I do — some people that I wasn’t so familiar with. Different generation. He knows every one of them. And we’ve had tremendous success, as you know,” Trump told the UK news outlet in early September.
“We did three unusual — and I don’t know what you’d call them but it’s a platform — with three people that I don’t know, but three people that Barron knows very well,” Trump said. “[He] actually calls all of them like friends of his because it’s a different generation.”
Trump continued, “They don’t grow up watching television the same way as we did. They grow up looking at the internet or watching a computer. But Barron knew them.”
