Fiona Lowe, the 13-year-old daughter of actor Chad Lowe, died last week. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner just released her cause of death. Tributes are pouring in, including one from Fiona’s elder sister, 17-year-old Mabel, who penned a heartbreaking tribute on Instagram.
Chad Lowe and his wife, producer Kim Painter, shared a heartbreaking statement on Tuesday following the death of their daughter, Fiona. In a statement, the family said they were “deeply heartbroken” by the loss of their beloved daughter.
“She was a loving young girl who was smart, creative, and loved to dance,” they wrote, adding that Fiona was adored by her sisters and deeply loved by her parents.
“In fact, she was the light of our lives,” the family said. “Her passing is devastating for our entire family and we ask for prayers and privacy at this time.”
The family ended their statement by urging anyone struggling with their mental health to seek help through the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline by calling or texting 988.
Per the LA Times, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner confirmed that Fiona Lowe died by suicide on Tuesday at a hospital.
Fiona Lowe was the second of parents Chad and Kim’s three daughters. She was also the niece of famed actor Rob Lowe.

On Tuesday morning last week, parents at the school Fiona attended received an email from the principal informing them of the 13-year-old’s passing.
“It is with deep sadness that I am calling you to advise you of the death of one of our students,” the email read. “Our sincere condolences go out to the student’s family, friends and teachers Counselors are available to meet with students and staff who may need emotional support during this difficult time.”
The Lowe family has stayed quiet after the tragic passing of Fiona. But now, her sister, 17-year-old Mabel, has broken her silence.
One day after Fiona’s passing was announced, Mabel Lowe paid tribute to her younger sister. She shared the family’s statement via Instagram Stories, with the Fleetwood Mac song Landslide playing.
On Sunday, Mabel took to Instagram again and dedicated a post to Fiona. Together with a bunch of pictures of the two, the 17-year-old wrote, “I love you so much fiona. I wish your short time here was easier and i hope your mind is at ease now, I will honor you forever and keep your memory alive. I love you, i hope you knew just how much.”
