The Chicago Bulls have made a sudden decision about player Jaden Ivey. The young basketball star has been waived by the team following controversial online comments that criticized NBA Pride Month.
Now, the decision has received heated reactions. It all started when Ivey shared strong opinions in a video about Pride Month and religion on Monday.
In the video, Jaden Ivey said, “They proclaim Pride Month in the NBA,” he said. “They proclaim it. They show it to the world. They say come join us for Pride, for Pride Month to celebrate unrighteousness. They proclaim it. They proclaim it on the billboards. They proclaim it in the streets. Unrighteousness. So how is it that one can’t speak righteousness? How are they to say that this man is crazy?”
Just hours later, the Bulls decided to let him go. The team said it was due to “conduct detrimental to the team.”
Coach Billy Donovan said the Bulls have employees from “all different walks of life.” Moreover, he said the comments don’t reflect the organization’s values.

“Everybody comes with their own personal experiences, but one is we’ve got to all be professional,” Donovan said. “I think there’s got to be a high level of respect for one another, and we’ve got to help each other and then be accountable to those standards.”
He added, “I don’t want to get into what he put out there, but certainly, I hope for him he’s okay.”
After being waived, Ivey went live on Instagram again. He continued talking about his beliefs. The player even said that championship rings are “not gonna matter on judgment day.”
He also claimed: he “didn’t get myself waived” and said teams may avoid him because he is “too religious.” At another moment, he questioned why people reject his message:
“How is it when the gospel is preached that people hate it?” he said.
Jaden Ivey was drafted by the Pistons with the fifth pick in the 2022 NBA Draft. He was traded to the Bulls just last month.
