Chris Evans has made a name for himself in Hollywood. Apart from this successful run as Captain America in the Marvel franchise, the actor has done dozens of roles that show off his acting chops.
Now, he has some news in his personal life. But it seems like fans are pointing out a detail they are not entirely happy with in his decision. Keep reading to know more.
Chris Evans tied the knot on Saturday, this past weekend with his longtime girlfriend Alba Baptista in Cape Cod, Massachusetts. The wedding was incredibly exclusive and had wedding guests sign NDAs as well as give up their cell phones for the duration of the ceremony.
The actor’s love affair with the young Portuguese actress came to light last November when outlets reported that the two of them were dating. However, for 42-year-old Chris Evan’s family, the news was not all that shocking.
At the time, a source reported that the couple had already been together a year by that point. “They are very in love and their relationship is serious,” the source shared. “Chris has never been happier. His family and friends all adore Alba.”
As for who Alba Baptista is, she is one of Portugal’s biggest stars. She was born in Lisbon to a Portuguese mother and Brazilian father. Her father is an engineer.
She began acting at the young age of 16, making her debut in the short film, Miami. Later on, she made appearances in the series Jardins Proibidos and films like A Impostora and Jogo Duplo.
She then appeared in Vogue Portugal. This was followed by her debut in English language projects. Her first English language project happened in 2020 with Netflix’s Warrior Nun.
A while after the English language series debuted, she appeared on the cover of GQ Portugal. The actress is incredibly smart and can speak five languages, which include English, Portuguese, Spanish, French, and German.
She is also known for her humanitarian work. In 2017, the actress traveled to Cambodia to teach English there.
She is also known to be incredibly down to earth and humble with the staff and crew she works with. In 2020, she dedicated a post to the crew she worked with on her series Warrior Nun. She posted pictures of herself with the crew, and in the caption wrote,
“To the coolest, finest, craziest and most hardworking crew I’ve been honored to work with. Thank you for this journey. You are the TRUE WARRIORS! So much love to all, Alba + Ava.”
However, not everyone took the news of the two being married too positively. Some people had an issue with the 16-year age gap between the couple. One X (formerly known as Twitter) user pointed out, “16 year age gaps are gross. Even if you’re Chris Evans”.
Another user pointed out how the headlines in media were favorable because of Chris Evan’s image, they wrote “that 16 [year] age gap would’ve been on every single headline if it [wasn’t] Chris Evans I said what I said”
While another added, I know Chris Evans is handsome & by all accounts, a stand up guy, but I wouldn’t be thrilled with my daughter marrying a 42 year old. When I was 26, I didn’t even look at men that age & if they hit on me, I went the other direction immediately. Just don’t get it.
