Death row inmate had blunt last fina words before executed in front of victim’s daughter

Florida man Victor Tony Jones, 54, was executed on Tuesday by lethal injection, becoming the 13th inmate executed in the state. Jones was executed for the murder of Jack and Dolly Nestor in 1990, and the victim’s daughter, Irene, was there to witness the execution. Jones’ life came to an end after stating two blunt words.

During a robbery in Miami in 1990, Victor Tony Jones robbed and murdered Jack and Dolly Nestor, who were 67 and 66. The couple was raising two children and were grandparents of four when they were killed.

Victor Tony Jones was sentenced to death, and on September 30, he was executed by lethal injection. He was pronounced dead at 6:13 p.m. ET, becoming the 34th inmate executed in the US this year, which is the highest in the nation since 2014.

At 6.00pm local time, Vuctir Tony Jones was asked if he had any final statement. He answered, “No, sir,” which would become his last words. Some minutes later, the warden called his name but there was no response. The murderer was dead.

Among the witnesses to the execution was Irene Fisher, the only daughter of Jack and Dolly Nestor.

“After seeing what I saw tonight, I wish my parents had that opportunity to die so gracefully, close your eyes and just go,” she told reporters afterward, per the Associated Press.

“They were violently killed. My father fought for 20 minutes with a stab wound in his heart, and my mother died instantly in the bathroom on a cold floor.”
