Decomposing body found inside trunk allegedly owned by singer

A case has turned up which has heads turning as it involves the car of a popular singer who is currently on tour, named d4vd.

The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) was tipped off about a foul smell coming from a black Tesla at an impound lot in Hollywood, earlier this week, on Monday.

The car is believed to have been at the lot for a couple of days when cops turned up to investigate. The officers checked the Tesla’s front trunk and found a body, which had been placed in a plastic bag.

The identity of the deceased person or the cause of death has not been made public as of yet.

The victim’s identity is also unknown at this point. The 2023 Tesla is registered in Hempstead, Texas, to David Anthony Burke, a singer known by their stage name, d4vd.

The owner of the car, however, has not been confirmed by officials.

In a statement to the media, the LAPD stated, “On 9/8/25 around 12:20 pm, officers responded to the 1000 block of Mansfield Avenue for a foul odor coming from a vehicle at a tow yard.”

It went on, “Detectives responded and located possible human remains. It is currently a death investigation. We do not have information on the owner of the vehicle.”

The singer d4vd is currently on a world tour titled Withered and is posting about his experience on social media even amid the media speculation.

He has an album titled ‘Withered Deluxe: Marcescence’ set to be released on September 19.

He posted about the album artwork to his 2 million followers writing, “Every song written exclusively by me on my phone baby, this is a passion project i put together to make sure i didn’t lose the raw emotional weight my music carries and how much it means to u all. The singer is best known for his 2022 song ‘Romantic Homicide’ and 2023 song ‘Here With Me’. He has over 33 million monthly listeners on Spotify and has previously also toured with SZA.

He has previously spoken about his experience with SZA, saying she taught him how to be ‘unapologetically’ himself. He said she reportedly said to him, “Boy, you just got to be you. You just got to be you.”
