Donald Trump has always been a fan of making a lot of money. The president has presented his new idea to generate revenue while allowing some immigration. The new “Trump Gold Card” means you can ‘skip the line’ to get a citizenship – and the amount is staggering.
Donald Trump has been accused of grifting and taking money from his supporters. The same goes for his wife, Melania Trump, who, together with her husband, for example, launched their own cryptocurrencies earlier this year. They made a fortune on them, but today, the value for those who bought them is nowhere near what it was when they were launched.
While Trump has been known to use money to get what he wants in his second presidential term, of course, not everything goes into his own pockets. Now, the president has launched a new way to collect revenue for the US, and shockingly, it has to do with immigration.
The Trump administration has cracked down on immigration, including raising work visa fees and deporting undocumented migrants.
Moreover, the US has paused immigration applications for individuals from 19 countries, mainly in the Middle East and Africa, as part of Donald Trump’s travel ban. Moreover, Asulym applications have been halted.
Donald Trump launches $1 million ‘fast track’ to citizenship
But if you have money, it appears that you’re more than welcome to the US. On Wednesday, Donald Trump announced a scheme offering fast-tracked US visas to wealthy foreigners. The card, called the “Trump Gold Card,” costs $1 million and, according to Trump, grants you citizenship.
Trump wrote on social media that it would buy a “direct path to Citizenship for all qualified and vetted people. SO EXCITING! Our Great American Companies can finally keep their invaluable Talent.”
The Trump GoldCard was first announced earlier this year and is described as ‘unlocking life in America.’
On the newly launched website where foreigners can apply, it states that the visa is “visa based upon an individual’s ability to provide a substantial benefit to the United States.”
The application includes a $15.000 nonrefundable DHS processing fee.
“Once an applicant’s processing fee is received, the process for petition approval and visa adjudication will take place on an expedited basis, assuming applicants submit any additional documents or fees in a timely manner. A $1 million gift upon completion of the individual’s vetting is evidence that the individual will substantially benefit the United States. An individual may also need to pay small, additional fees to the U.S. Department of State depending on his or her circumstances,” it reads.
Donald Trump calls it a “bargain”
But wait, there is more. The website further explains that one can “secure their place” on the waiting list for a Trump Platinum Card.
“When launched, and upon receipt of a $15,000 DHS processing fee and $5 million contribution, they will have the ability to spend up to 270 days in the United States without being subject to U.S. taxes on non-U.S. income,” it says.
Significant criminal risk and national security are the basis for revocations of the Trump Gold Card. The president himself described the visas as similar to green cards when they were first unveiled earlier this year.
The Trump Gold Card is aimed specifically at “high-level” professionals. In February, Donald Trump said, “we want people that are productive.”
He added, “The people that can pay $5m, they’re going to create jobs. It’s going to sell like crazy. It’s a bargain,” he added.
