Fans slam Jennifer Garner’s look in Paris: ‘Dior should do better’

Before Jennifer Garner marveled over an artist’s wild archery moves on the runway at Paris Fashion Week, the 52-year-old Elektra star practiced some sword play in her hotel room.

Dressed in a classic black Christian Dior dress, that she says “is like Jackie Kennedy” or “Audrey Hepburn,” Garner swung her blades, and later took her front row seat at the Dior fashion event, held at the Rodin Museum in Paris.

While her outfit highlighted her timeless beauty, fans were divided over her appearance. Some gushed over the star, saying she “brings such warmth to the brand,” while others suggested the dress didn’t fit and “Dior should do better.”

On Tuesday, Sept. 24, Jennifer Garner attended the Christian Dior Spring 2025 show during Paris Fashion Week, which featured designer Maria Grazia Chiuri’s playful, ready-to-wear sport-themed fashion that champions female strength.

Sofia Ginevra Giannì, a multidisciplinary artist known as SAGG Napoli, was the first to walk the runway, a tunnel of sleek glass windows with meaningful text flashing across the walls.

Napoli, dressed like a glamorous warrior entered through a narrow corridor in the centre of the catwalk with an Olympic-style archery set propped over her shoulder. She then grabbed an arrow from her belt and fired it down the runway.

Garner, who recently starred as Elektra in Deadpool and Wolverine, watched enthusiastically from her front row seat, her mouth dropping open with awe as her eyes followed the arrow’s path.

“Jennifer Garner has the cutest reaction to watching the archer,” writes InStyle in an Instagram post.

“I love how she is recording her…but not looking at her through her phone!!” writes one fan about the star who was recording the action on her phone.

Joking about her adorable reaction, another fan references Garner’s starring role in the 2004 film where she plays a young teenager occupying the body of a 30-year-old woman: “It’s cause she’s 13 going on 30.”

Before watching the show that celebrated heroines, the star of The Adam Project got into the mood by swinging around some swords. “Swapping her superhero swords for an elegant front-row outfit, she shares her thoughts on the new collection,” Dior wrote on Facebook, in a post that included a clip of Garner preparing for the event.

“I have to get my weapons ready,” the actor says while picking up the blades that she used as the character Elektra. “Oh, these are very heavy. These could really hurt someone, they are not kidding…I have scars from my sword fights.”

Then, the spirited Garner shares her excitement over her Dior outfit: a black Dior dress with a cinched waist that she paired with a grey tweed jacket along with a matching ribbed calfskin handbag, also by Dior.

“This dress, it’s the most like me. It’s pretty classic, it’s pretty simple, like Jackie Kennedy, Audrey Hepburn. Plus, look at my shoes,” she shares while doing a little tap dance with her black-and-white leather Dior Specta Mary Jane Pumps.

“I’m coming for you Dior, let’s go!” she playfully adds.

Fans jumped into the comments section, gushing over her warmth and unexaggerated beauty. “She is so cute and brings such warmth to the brand,” writes one online user.

A second shares, “Love how she blends elegance with her dynamic personality,” while a third compliments her simple elegance: “Sometimes a Simple outfit can be fabulous! Looking classy Jennifer!!”

Meanwhile, fans reacted to a similar clip posted by Dior on Instagram, many offering their harsh critiques.

“I don’t have anything against her but ever since she made 13 going 30 she keeps behaving like in the movie…it’s weird and sort of annoying,” said a fan who also referenced her 2004 role in the fantasy film.

A second netizen writes, “She’s not elegant or feminine which is what I thought Dior was all about,” while a third pens, “Dior stepped down here so disappointing”

Another critic suggests, “That dress does not fit you. Not tailored to you. Christian Dior should do better!”

Defending her, other Instagram users offered their support: “Of course, her beauty and elegance only complement the beauty of the dress,” writes one. Another adds, “You’re so beautiful, inspiring, talented and classy.”
