Firefighter dies after suffering heart attack on his wedding day – rest in peace

A firefighter passed away unexpectedly at the weekend on the morning of the day when he was set to get married.

As per tragic reports, Steven Brantley, of Lincoln, worked for the San Francisco Fire Department. He was due to be married to the love of his life on Saturday, May 1, but suffered a heart attack in the early hours of the morning.

Brantley was rushed to hospital, but sadly died several days later.

According to CBS Local Sacramento, the firefighter initially joined the department as a paramedic back in 2008, before being promoted to fire suppression in 2011.

Through a memorial fundraiser, the San Francisco Fire Department said:

It is with a heavy heart that San Francisco Fire Fighters Local 798 announces the unexpected passing of Brother Steven Brantley over the weekend. Steve collapsed suddenly in the early morning of May 1.

On a day that should have ended with him newly married, instead found his family having to take on the emotional task of saying goodbye.

Steve originally came into the San Francisco Fire Department in 2008 in Paramedic Class #4. He worked at Station 49 on the ambulance for several years until becoming a firefighter in Class #113.

Steve worked at Station 32, was a long-time member of Station 10, and was working at SF International Airport until the time of his death. Steve was a proud veteran, serving our country in the US Army. Steve leaves behind his children and fiancée.

I can only imagine the heartbreak experienced by Steve’s bride and family. On the day that should have been one of the happiest of his life, he was suddenly taken from the world.
