Florida girl, 13, made plea before being shot in face by stepdad after Christmas argument

A 13-year-old Florida girl has been left fighting for her life after a family argument devolved into an unthinkable tragedy days before Christmas.

As per shocking reports, on December 22 47-year-old Jason Kenney shot his wife Crystal. He then turned the gun on his 13-year-old stepdaughter before later dying by suicide.

According to Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd, the teen is in critical but stable condition – she’s been able to speak to investigators despite the grave nature of her injuries.

The 13-year-old – who has not been named – revealed that the obscene turn of events started after an argument concerning Monday Night Football.

Stepfather Jason, it’s claimed, had been watching the San Francisco 49ers play the Indianapolis Colts in a shed behind the house.

He then returned inside to watch the final minutes on the main TV, but Crystal told him he couldn’t take over. An argument ensued, one that quickly spiraled out of control.

As things became heated, Crystal told her 12-year-old son to run to the neighbor’s house and call 911.

“So the 12-year-old flees to the neighbor’s house in order to dial 911, and as he’s leaving the house, he hears a gunshot,” explained Sheriff Judd.

When deputies arrived five minutes later, they found Crystal dead from a gunshot wound to her head. What’s more, her 13-year-old daughter had also been shot – once in the shoulder and once in the face.

Sheriff Judd added: “We later learned the bullet in the face hit her on the bridge of the nose, went straight up, and out the top of her head. That’s a Christmas miracle.”

Jason and Crystal’s one-year-old daughter was found unharmed, sleeping in her crib.

Jason himself had already fled the residence. While en route to his late father’s house, he made a call to his sister in New York, telling her: “I’ve done something very, very bad. The next time you see me will be on the news.”

Officers tracked him to his father’s home, where he had barricaded himself inside a shed. They heard a single gunshot ring out as they approached – Jason was thereafter found dead from a self-inflicted wound.

Inside the Kenney home, investigators found a heartbreaking handwritten note from Crystal that urged Jason to seek help for substance abuse.

“You’re drinking, you’re using cocaine again,” the note allegedly read.

“This is not the way the family should be. You need God.”

“The entire family was destroyed,” Sheriff Judd said. “Our homicide detectives are distraught. When you go in there, there is a beautiful Christmas tree with lots of Christmas presents under it, just like the nuclear family should be.”

All three children are now said to be in the custody of their maternal grandparents.
