He’s donated $3 billion to cure all the world’s diseases

Just after Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan became the parents of a little daughter, they revealed that they will be donating $3 billion to help accelerate scientific research.

They want their daughter, Max – short for Maxima – to be able to grow up in a better world. Their wild ambition is to be able to cure all diseases in their children’s life time.

According to Recode, Zuckerberg said: “We talked to experts who believe that it is possible.”

It was on Thursday at a press conference in San Francisco that Zuckerberg and Chan talked about their donation. Their hope now is that the money will speed up the research and in the future hopefully be able to cure all diseases. The question during the presentation was: “Can we cure all diseases in our children’s lifetime?”.

“Major breakthroughs in medicine can take many years. This is about our future, and we must do our part,” the Facebook founder said according to Recode.
