Police in Kentucky recently caught a lucky break after the man they were in pursuit ran out of gas.
On May 15, the Kentucky State Police were involved in a high-speed chase on the Bluegrass Parkway in Nelson County. The driver, Steven Alford, 47, was caught driving 143 mph in a 70 mph zone.
The state police requested backup from the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office, but thankfully it didn’t require the efforts of two police departments to bring an end to the high-speed chase.
It was the amount of gas Alford had in his 2015 yellow Ford Mustang.
The chase came to an end when Alford pulled over because his car ran out of gas.
However, once Alford pulled over, he refused to get out of his vehicle, and the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office said he “had to be assisted” out of the Mustang.
He was arrested and charged with driving 26 mph or more over the limit, fleeing or evading police, reckless driving, four counts of wanton endangerment, operating on suspended or revoked license, and resisting arrest.

Well, I certainly didn’t anticipate that high-speed chase ending that way! I’m glad it ended in a somewhat peaceful way.
