Two executives from the same company were busted for cheating on their spouses after they were caught getting cozy on the Jumbotron at a Coldplay concert, triggering a full-blown corporate meltdown. And now, less than one week since Andy Byron resigned from his position as CEO at Astronomer, the fate of the HR executive has finally been revealed.
During a July 16 Coldplay show at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, the band’s kiss cam panned across the crowd, searching for sweethearts to spotlight on the big screen.
When it landed on a sharply dressed couple getting very close, the crowd cheered.
But behind the scenes, things were about to get awkward.
Caught on camera
“Whoa, look at these two!” Coldplay frontman Chris Martin exclaimed playfully as the camera zoomed in on a couple in the crowd – the man seen wrapping his arms around the woman from behind.
“Either they’re having an affair, or they’re just very shy,” Martin continued in the viral TikTok clip – recorded by concert goer Grace Springer – that has 128.4 million views.
The moment the pair realized they were being broadcast on the massive Jumbotron, the man immediately ducked out of frame, while the woman turned away, hiding her face in what looked like a mix of shock and panic.
What started as a lighthearted concert moment had just exposed a secret that would soon rock their entire company.
Surprised spouses
The couple wasn’t just any pair of lovebirds – they were Andy Byron, CEO of AI data-based tech firm Astronomer, and Kristin Cabot, the company’s Chief People Officer.
According to Page Six, Cabot, who started her role at the company in November 2024, is married to Andrew Cabot, the CEO of Privateer Rum, while Byron shares two children with his wife, Megan, who quickly dropped her husband’s last name from her Facebook profile before deactivating her account.
Byron resigns
As the scandal gained traction, Astronomer scrambled to get ahead of the storm, immediately placing the two on leave as the cheating scandal went viral.
On July 19, the company shared a tweet, explaining that “leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability, and recently, that standard was not met.” The post also announced that Byron “tendered his resignation.”
Referring to the poor publicity, co-founder and chief product officer Pete DeJoy said in a statement, per the BBC, that the company had become a “household” name almost overnight – though not for the reasons it had hoped.
“The events of the past few days have received a level of media attention that few companies – let alone startups in our small corner of the data and AI world – ever encounter,” said DeJoy, who was appointed interim CEO.
Cabot’s fate
The real twist came in the days that followed.
As CPO, Cabot’s involvement added a jaw-dropping layer of irony. Her role was to uphold professional conduct and workplace boundaries – exactly the kind of policies this incident blew wide open.
Now, Astronomer has confirmed that officially resigned from the company, marking the second high-profile exit in the wake of the scandal.
“I can confirm that Kristin Cabot is no longer with Astronomer, she has resigned,” a spokesperson for the company told Page Six.
‘Random moment’
Meanwhile, speaking with the Sun, a member from Coldplay’s production team explained the moment was completely “random.”
“At a concert tour like this one, the cameraman/woman at this particular part of the show are just scanning the crowd and picking up random people,” the source said.
“There is a touring video editor backstage or at front of house who would select via a switcher which camera to use at any moment during the concert. This situation would have been totally random.”
Another crew member said: “It’s a shtick Chris does every show, picking out audience members etc. Their reaction made it much worse – very cringey. Not sure what they were thinking.
“Maybe they tried doing the math and thought the chances are super low at two to 50,000 that they would be seen on the big screen.”
Neither Byron nor Cabot has commented publicly. Both have wiped their LinkedIn profiles clean, and Astronomer has declined further comment beyond confirming their departures.
