Jean Smart is recovering from a heart procedure

As we grow older, our health is something we need to focus on more and more. Similarly, 71-year-old Jean Smart is reminding everyone of the same thing; to take care of their health.

The actress had a health scare herself which prompted her to warn others about the issues that could arise if you ignore your health.

Jean Smart has had a career that has spanned decades and as a result, had earned her the adoration and love of millions of people. The actress is still active in her career. She posted on Instagram an update from her life. She wrote, “February is American Heart Month – a time when the nation spotlights heart health, so it feels important to share with all of you that I am recovering from a recent successful heart procedure,” the “Hacks” star wrote. “I am fortunate to have excellent care and support from family and friends while I continue to recuperate.”

She went on to add as a warning, “Please listen to your body and talk to your doctor – I’m very glad I did!”

In a joint statement from HBO Max and Universal Television, she was wished a speedy recovery as well, the statement read, “We are so happy that our beloved Jean Smart’s heart procedure was successful and she’s on the mend. HBO Max and UTV send their well wishes.”

“Hacks” was currently filming its third season but as the actress recuperates after her procedure, filming has currently halted.

The actress did not give any specific details about the procedure.

In 2021, she lost her husband Richard Gilliland unexpectedly because of a heart condition. He was 71 years old at the time as well.

“It’s not anything I ever dreamed would happen,” the heartbroken said in an interview. “Not so soon. He made me laugh all the time. That’s going to be hard to live without.”

The same year she won an Emmy for Best Actress for her performance in “Hacks” and dedicated the award to Gilliland.

“Before I say anything else, I have to acknowledge my late husband who passed away six months ago yesterday,” Smart stated in her winning speech. “I would not be here without him, and without his kind of putting his career on the back burner so I could take advantage of all the wonderful opportunities that I have had.”

The couple had been married for 30 years after meeting on the set of ‘Designing Women.’
