Kentucky woman missing for nearly 24 hours found upside down in crashed SUV

Nora Thompson was driving in Shepherdsville, Kentucky Monday when she suddenly went off the road. She was able to call the police for help, but they were unable to find her.

A massive search took place, and finally after nearly 24 hours Thompson was found insider her car, which was upside down.

Although some injuries she sustained during the crash were serious, they were believed to be non-life-threatening.

Police believe the accident occurred around 3:45 p.m. Monday when Thompson’s vehicle left Interstate 65 near a ramp and struck a lamppost.

She was able to get in contact with both her family and the police around 8 p.m., but neither could find her.

Search and rescue

Pinging her cellphone was of no use as it didn’t provide an exact location.

Since it was already dark search crews had to wait until the following morning to look again.

It wasn’t until around 11 a.m. that a helicopter aiding in the search spotted Thompson’s SUV which had crashed down an embankment and was partially covered by trees.

Thompson, who was disoriented, was upside down in her vehicle and had blood on her face.

She was transported to a hospital to be treated for some serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

What a relief that Nora was found! I’m so happy that no one gave up looking for her. Thank you to all involved in the search.
