On September 8, 2022, the world faced a huge loss in the death of Queen Elizabeth II. But, of course, the people who felt that loss the most were her family; the Royal Family. Now, a year after her death, King Charles is remembering her with heartfelt words.

Queen Elizabeth II was the longest-reigning monarch the United Kingdom had seen. She died at the age of 96 years old, the cause of her death being her advanced age. “The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon,” Buckingham Palace announced in a statement on the day of her passing. “The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow.”
Her funeral was scheduled ten days later, on September 19, 2022. The service took place at Westminster Abbey and was followed by a procession to Wellington Arch. The procession consisted of 3,000 military personnel.
The Queen is survived by her four children, King Charles, Princess Anne, Prince Andrew, and Prince Edward as well as her right grandchildren which include Prince William and Prince Harry, followed by her 13 great-grandchildren. The Queen’s husband of 74 years, Prince Philip died before her on April 9. 2021. He was 99 years old at the time of his death. His death was also a heartbreak for the Royal Family.
For the one-year anniversary of her death, King Charles is said to be spending it privately at Balmoral Arms. However, Prince William and his wife, Kate Middleton, are said to make a public appearance at St David’s Cathedral.
The King made a statement to mark the one-year anniversary of his mother, the late Queen’s death. The statement said, “In marking the first anniversary of Her late Majesty’s death and my Accession, we recall with great affection her long life, devoted service and all she meant to so many of us.” Charles went on, “I am deeply grateful, too, for the love and support that has been shown to my wife [Queen Camilla] and myself during this year as we do our utmost to be of service to you all.”
It is so heartwarming to see how the King is still remembering his mother a year after her death. I am sure many people miss the Queen deeply.
