Lenny Kravitz’s team addresses rumors he died in fatal private jet crash in Florida

Rumors began circulating on social media that Lenny Kravitz had been among the nine people killed in a devastating private jet crash in Florida. Now, the singer’s representatives have addressed the speculation and set the record straight.

The crash occurred at approximately 12:50 p.m. on Sunday in Palm Beach County, Florida, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reported. The Learjet 60 private jet had departed from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport in Texas and was en route to North Eleuthera Airport in the Bahamas.

A FAA spokesperson told LADbible: “A Learjet 60 crashed in a residential area near Cresthaven, Florida, around 12:50 p.m. local time on Sunday, Nov. 1. Nine people were on board.

“The aircraft departed Austin-Bergstrom International Airport in Texas and was headed to North Eleuthera Airport in the Bahamas.

“The FAA and National Transportation Safety Board will investigate. The NTSB is in charge of the investigation and will provide all updates.”

In the hours following the crash, a screenshot began circulating on social media, allegedly showing a post from the pilot claiming she was flying Lenny Kravitz along the same route.

Lenny Kravitz’s team responds

According to reports, Pilot Emily Shelton shared a post on social media, saying she was: “Honored to be flying the one and only Lenny Kravitz from AUS [in Austin] to ELH [in the Bahamas] tomorrow.

“Looking forward to having him on board! ‘It Ain’t Over ‘Til It’s Over’ is going to be playing in the cockpit.”

However, Shelton was not operating the aircraft involved in the crash. The pilot has been identified as Nathalia Gadelha Filgueiras.

A spokesperson for Kravitz has now dismissed the claims, stating that reports suggesting he was aboard the plane are “untrue and incorrect.”

Shelton later shared a follow-up post on TikTok, saying: “I was recently made aware that there are rumours that I was the pilot of the recent crash in Palm Beach.

“I would like to respectfully clarify I was not. I ask that people please stop speculating and spreading misinformation on this tragedy and be respectful of those involved.

“My heart goes out to all those lost and affected.”
