Lip reader reveals ‘furious’ Prince William’s last public interaction with Prince Andrew

Just one month before Prince Andrew gave up his royal titles, he was caught in a heated exchange with Prince William – who has reportedly been “at pains to distance himself” from his scandal-plagued uncle. Now, a lip reader is shedding light on what was said, and why it left the future king “furious.”

Prince Andrew’s royal downfall has taken another public turn following renewed pressure over allegations connected to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and the late Virginia Giuffre – one of Epstein’s most vocal accusers.

‘Playboy of the royal family’

Giuffre, who was 41 when she died by suicide in April 2025, had long accused Prince Andrew of sexually abusing her when she was 17 – allegations the royal has repeatedly and vehemently denied.

In her posthumously released memoir “Nobody’s Girl: A Memoir of Surviving Abuse and Fighting for Justice,” Giuffre recounted her alleged 2001 encounter with King Charles’ younger brother, who she writes had “long been known as the playboy of the royal family,” per The Guardian.

“He was friendly enough, but still entitled – as if he believed having sex with me was his birthright,” she penned, claiming that Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s longtime associate, pressured her into “servicing the man the tabloids called ‘Randy Andy.”

Maxwell was later convicted of sex trafficking in 2021, while Epstein died by suicide in a U.S. jail in 2019.

And, despite Prince Andrew’s consistent denials, Giuffre’s memoir – released Oct. 21, 2025 – reignited public outrage and renewed scrutiny of his connection to Epstein’s inner circle.

Disgraced royal

On Oct. 17, Andrew, 65, announced he would renounce all of his royal titles, including his knighthood and his position in the Order of the Garter – the oldest and most senior order of chivalry in Britain, according to the BBC.

“In discussion with the King, and my immediate and wider family, we have concluded the continued accusations about me distract from the work of His Majesty and the Royal Family,” Andrew wrote in an official royal statement. “I have decided, as I always have, to put my duty to my family and country first…

“With His Majesty’s agreement, we feel I must now go a step further. I will therefore no longer use my title or the honours which have been conferred upon me.”

He concluded his statement by again maintaining his innocence: “As I have said previously, I vigorously deny the accusations against me.”

Though he will retain the title of prince, Buckingham Palace confirmed that his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, will also relinquish her Duchess of York title – a role both were granted upon their marriage in 1986 – marking a clear and final step away from public royal life for them both.

Last appearance with senior royals

On Sept. 16 – one month before his resignation – Andrew made a final appearance alongside senior royals at the funeral of the Duchess of Kent – where his arrival at Westminster Abbey alongside his ex drew audible gasps from stunned onlookers.

Despite the sombre environment where grieving royalty gathered, Andrew was seen smiling and chatting casually, attempting to engage in conversation with his nephew, Prince William – an interaction that according to The Mirror, left the future king “furious.”

Footage from the event quickly spread across social media, prompting speculation over what was really said.

Lip reader weighs in

In an exclusive report from The Mirror, professional lip reader Jeremy Freeman analyzed the footage and revealed what Prince Andrew likely said to the Prince of Wales during their brief, one-sided exchange.

Freeman observed Andrew trying repeatedly to engage William, at one point saying: “… we had a lovely time in those days, didn’t we…I remember those days.”

The moment, though short, was deeply awkward. Andrew is seen grinning while William quickly glanced at his uncle, and refusing to respond, he stared ahead with a cold expression.

Interaction left William ‘furious’

Royal biographer Andrew Lownie, speaking to The Mirror, described William’s reaction as “furious,” explaining that the prince had been actively avoiding any public association with his disgraced uncle.

“He has been at pains to distance himself from his uncle and not be photographed with him,” Lownie said.

“He believes his father has not dealt with him with sufficient firmness and that Andrew – and Sarah Ferguson – have done much to undermine the good work of other members of the Royal Family.”

As more details continue to emerge, and as public scrutiny only intensifies, the royal rift between uncle and nephew is no longer hidden behind palace walls — it’s playing out in full view of the world.
