Nancy Guthrie, the mother of Today host Savannah Guthrie, has been missing for almost two weeks. Police released footage of a masked indiviudal caught on her doorbell camera, but the idenity of the suspect is not known. Now, a YouTuber has used AI to ask it to remove the masks. The response is eerie.
As the search for Nancy Guthrie enters its 13th day, a new clue has emerged—an AI-generated image that could reveal what the suspect looks like without their mask.
In a recent YouTube video, Professor Nez shared what he claims is an artificial intelligence reconstruction of the masked individual caught on doorbell footage outside Guthrie’s Arizona home.
The image, he suggests, may offer a rare glimpse of the suspect’s face, and the resemblance to someone connected to the family has ignited a wave of online speculation.

Professor Nez explained: “Okay, this is where AI has come in right. What you see on the screen right here is AI putting a mask on Dominic Aaron Lee Evans.”

He identified Evans as “a longtime friend and former bandmate of Tomasso Cioni, Annie Guthrie’s husband, Nancy Guthrie’s son-in-law.”
Nez then pointed out striking similarities between the AI-generated face and the masked figure seen in previous footage.
“That is very eerily similar because if you look at the facial hair on the chin there, you look at the eyes and the eyebrows, that is eerie,” he said.
He emphasized the uncanny resemblance: “Extremely eerie because, you know, if you see this image right here of the suspect in the video that was released and this Evans character, you start to notice some very eerie similarities. Also, this photo that I put on the thumbnail.”

According to Nez, he used Grok AI to digitally remove the mask from the suspect’s face.
Eerie response
“So we asked Grok AI to take the mask off and that is what AI came up with,” he explained. “And it is really, really accurate as far as what the individual may look like.
He added, “Again, technology is so advanced now. It’s absolutely out of this world. It’s doing all sorts of things in many industries. I have an AI assistant that helps me with my work and research.”
Nez concluded: “This is a really powerful side-by-side.”
It’s important to note, however, that law enforcement has not confirmed the AI-generated image, nor have authorities publicly identified any suspects in this case.
We are praying for Nancy Guthrie and her family.
