A man claiming to have the world’s smallest penis has received huge support for his tiny tool, with hundreds of strangers helping him fund a procedure that he says will help him live “with more dignity and independence.”
For 38-year-old Michael Phillips, going public about something so intensely personal wasn’t simply about making an unusual claim.
The South Carolina man – who says his penis measures just 0.38 inches when fully erect, roughly the size of a pinky fingernail – was diagnosed with micropenis, a rare condition that has affected everything from using the bathroom to his confidence and relationships.
According to the Cleveland Clinic, micropenis is a “very rare” condition that is diagnosed in adults when the stretched penile length (SPL) measures 2.67 inches or less, compared with an average stretched length of 5.25 inches.
But measurements only tell part of Phillips’ story.
According to the 38-year-old, his micropenis has “been a source of daily frustration and embarrassment.”
‘I avoid relationships because of it’
In February 2026, Phillips took that message to a much larger audience when he appeared in an interview with TMZ and issued an unusual challenge: if anyone on Earth had a smaller penis, he wanted them to come forward.
“I welcome anybody to come out there and beat me,” Phillips told the outlet after holding up his pinky finger and explaining that “when it’s flaccid, it’s smaller than that.”
But behind the attention-grabbing claim that his was the world’s tiniest package, Phillips used the interview to explain how profoundly the condition had affected his personal life.
“My dating life is probably challenging because I don’t really go out and try to meet new people. I’m more introverted. I’m more to myself and I avoid relationships because of it,” he said, adding that on “several occasions,” penetrative sex was not successful.
He also spoke about the practical problems he experiences when urinating, explaining that it “goes everywhere and stuff like that.”
‘Daily frustration and embarrassment’
On June 25, Phillips launched a GoFundMe campaign called “Help Michael Get Micropenis Enlargement Procedure,” asking the public to help pay for a procedure intended to increase his girth and make it easier for him to urinate.
“I am reaching out for help with a deeply personal medical challenge,” Phillips wrote on the fundraiser. “My doctor has advised that I must use pull ups unless I can pursue a medical procedure to help increase the size and improve my ability to urinate…It has affected my confidence and independence.”
“While this procedure will not cure my micropenis condition, it would make a significant difference in my daily life by helping me avoid the need for pull ups,” he shared on the campaign page. “Your support would mean the world to me and help me take a big step toward living with more dignity and independence.”
Then strangers started donating.
By Aug. 11, more than 310 people had contributed nearly $14,000 to the fundraiser, giving Phillips enough support to move forward with the procedure.
And among those who took notice of his story was a doctor who was willing to help out – without a charge.
‘Extremely grateful’
According to the Guardian, Beverly Hills plastic surgeon Dr. Robert Dorman publicly offered to perform an injection treatment for free after learning about the quality-of-life problems Phillips had described.
A spokesperson for Dorman told the outlet that the surgeon had been moved by Phillips’ story, and despite the generosity, the man had already decided where he wanted to have the treatment.
“I have already booked my procedure with a facility closer to home,” Phillips said of using the money he raised through the fundraiser to fund the “surgery and injections that could help increase the girth,” allowing him to” regain some normalcy and comfort.”
With his appointment confirmed, Phillips turned his attention to the hundreds of strangers whose donations had helped make it possible, expressing his gratitude for a response he never expected.
“I…never thought anyone would care enough to help,” Phillips told The Guardian, “[I am] extremely grateful.”
