The 59-year-old actress Mariska Hargitay, has been married to her husband Peter Hermann, 56 for a long time. The couple share three children together and have built a beautiful life together.
Their three children are August, 16, Amaya, 12, and Andrew, 11. The couple brought their children out with them recently at the 21st annual Stuttering Association for the Young (SAY) Benefit Gala at the Edison Ballroom in New York City. The family rarely makes public appearances like this which is why it was obvious that this was a special occasion!
The couple was being honored at the SAY benefit for their work with the foundation. The SAY foundation does work “that empowers, educates, and supports young people who stutter and the world that surrounds them.”
The couple was inducted into the Hall of Fame. At the same event, Wayne Brady and journalist/author John Hendrickson were given the SAY: Hero Award.
The cause is especially close to the hearts of the couple because their eldest child August also has a stutter. Thus it is understandably personal for them to work for it!
But the personal news Hargitay shared on social media did not have to do with her astounding advocacy but her marriage! She revealed that it was her 19th anniversary with Hermann. To commemorate the occasion, the actress posted a wonderful picture from the couple’s wedding.
The picture showed the young couple dancing at their wedding. In the caption for the picture, the actress simply wrote, “19 years. Best dance of my life. Only dance of my life.” What a sweet message to write for her husband of almost two decades! People were happy to see the couple and wished them well. “May the love you both share continue to grow more and more each year,” one fan wrote. Actress Amy Landecker commented, “one of the best couples there is.”
The couple has gotten candid about their relationship in the past. In an interview, they talked about how they keep a ‘spark’ alive in their marriage. Hermann said, “There is no secret. We’re all just working through it — whether it’s a relationship that exists in the public eye to some degree or doesn’t.” He added, “Our son plays basketball and his coach says, ‘Fundamentals, fundamentals, fundamentals,’ and I think when it comes to relationships, the fundamentals, in the end, are not that complicated. That doesn’t mean that they’re easy, but they’re not that complicated. It’s fundamentals — kindness, listen well and fight fair.
