MasterChef star dies after horror crash in Mexico

A former MasterChef contestant and rising TikTok influencer has died following a devastating car crash in northern Mexico.

Yanin Campos, 38, was behind the wheel of her SUV early Saturday morning when she reportedly lost control and slammed into a parked vehicle in her hometown of Chihuahua. The collision left her critically injured, and despite emergency treatment, she died two days later in hospital, The Sun reports.

According to local media, the crash happened around 6:30am on the Francisco R. Almada highway. Campos was driving a black GMC Terrain when the SUV veered off and struck the parked car head-on. Images shared online show the vehicle mangled from the impact.

Campos was rushed to Hospital del Parque and placed in intensive care, but passed away Monday evening due to the extent of her injuries.

Her brother, Raúl Campo, confirmed the tragic news in a heartfelt social media post: “To our family and friends, we inform you and mourn the passing of my sister, Yanin Campos,” he wrote, per Metro. “The wake is at the Hernández Funeral Home for those who would like to say goodbye and join us.”

Campos rose to national attention in 2018 as a contestant on MasterChef México, where she placed sixth. Her popularity earned her a spot on MasterChef: La Revancha the following year, and she soon transitioned from her career as a nurse to become a full-time food influencer.

Local police have launched an investigation into the cause of the crash. At this stage, no other injuries or vehicles have been reported involved.
