Keep reading to learn more about what she has responded with.

Mexico’s infamous drug boss, Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, who was the leader of the Jalisco New Generation (CJNG) drug cartel, was killed on Sunday during a security operation. His death has rocked Mexico, with a lot of violence erupting in various parts of the country as a result.

Cervantes, who was popularly known as El Mencho, was left gravely injured when a clash between his supporters and the army took place. He died on the way to the capital, Mexico City. As a result of his death, CJNG has been setting cars on fire, building roadblocks, and attacking security forces.

Rumors began circulating online, including fake AI-generated images of model Maria Julissa, claiming she was involved in the situation. The model took to social media to reveal the truth. She urged people not to fall prey to false information, saying, “I want to make it absolutely clear: I have nothing to do with that situation. The information going around is false and lacks foundation. I ask that you all not fall for fake news and always look to reliable sources and officials.”

Mexico’s Defense Secretary Ricardo Trevilla had previously said that El Mencho had been tracked down because of a lover. The details about the entire situation, however, are unclear.

According to reports, the Mexican government has responded to the rise in violence by deploying thousands of soldiers to the affected states. Trevilla shared that an extra 2,500 troops had been sent to the western area of Mexico earlier this week and that 9,500 troops have been mobilized since the death on Sunday.

Violence in some states saw cars and buses being set on fire, as well as many businesses. Roadblocks have been strewn across the country, which Mexico’s Security Cabinet has said have now mostly been cleared.
