The family of a missing Massachusetts teenager is pleading for answers after she vanished last week, leaving behind only a haunting final text message that revealed her growing fear for her safety.
Kylee Monteiro, 18, who relatives say was 11 weeks pregnant, was last seen on August 7 near County Street in Rehoboth. According to family members, she had gone to her boyfriend’s house to pick up some belongings, but she never returned.
Her last known message, sent to a close friend, has only heightened the sense of urgency in the search. “I don’t feel safe right now. Something’s not right,” Kylee wrote, before cutting off all communication.
“She would never just disappear like this,” her sister, Faith Monteiro, told ABC 6 News. “The circumstances don’t seem good. We’re scared, and we just want her home.”
Kylee had recently graduated from Attleboro High School in June and had been staying at a homeless shelter while navigating what her family described as an “on and off” relationship with her boyfriend. That relationship, according to her sister, had been marked by domestic issues, including a heated argument the night before Kylee disappeared.
“She was desperate for help,” Faith said, recalling a series of frantic calls Kylee made on the evening of August 6. “She was calling friends, family, anyone she could, saying she was in danger. It was terrifying.”

Faith offered to pick her up, but Kylee declined. Although she reassured her sister that the situation with her boyfriend had calmed down, her tone remained urgent and unsettled. The next day, she vanished.
Her sister Kitty echoed the family’s fears in a Facebook post, writing: “It’s highly unlike her to cut all contact from social media and family. We need to get word out to find any information as soon as possible.”
Police in Rehoboth have since launched a large-scale search, deploying K-9 units, dive teams, and officers on foot to scour wooded areas, ponds, and neighborhoods near where Kylee was last seen. Despite days of searching, no trace of her has been found.
“There’s some relief knowing that people are out there looking for her,” Faith said. “But if they don’t find her soon, I don’t know what the next steps are, and that’s the scariest part.”
Kylee is described as 6 feet tall with light brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a red “Get Over It” T-shirt, ripped blue jeans, and tan boots.
“She’s so friendly and lovable, outgoing but also timid at the same time,” Faith said. “She doesn’t have the survival instinct to make it on her own. That’s what makes this so terrifying.”
Authorities are urging anyone with information or surveillance footage from the area to contact the Rehoboth Police Department at (508) 252-3722.
