Ryan Seacrest reveals plans as host of ‘Wheel of Fortune’: ‘I can’t wait to takeover’

Ryan Seacrest has big shoes to fill when he replaces Pat Sajak as the host of Wheel of Fortune next year.

“Pat Sajak is an icon in this business, and he’s made [Wheel of Fortune] so comfortable for everybody to watch,” Seacrest said. “I’m like a kid so excited about just seeing the set, you know, to walk out on that set.”

Will the media personality switch things up? After all, the game show has aired continuously since 1975…

The former Live with Kelly and Ryan co-host recently spoke about his plans for the future of the game show, and some loyal fans might be in for a shock.

For the past four decades, Pat Sajak and Vanna White have been the face of Wheel of Fortune, but come season 42, a new host will join White on the set of America’s game.

In June, shortly after Sajak announced he was retiring, Seacrest was revealed to be the show’s new host.

“I’ve been a fan. I grew up watching the show. and I can’t wait to take over after the legendary Pat Sajak.”

At the time it was unclear if White, 66, would return, but it has since been confirmed her contract, which has been said to include a “substantial pay increase,” has been renewed for two more years.

A change in hosts will take some getting used to. For example, take a look at Jeopardy!.

But Seacrest hopes that’s all loyal fans will have to worry about.

“With this game show, it’s such a success and has been for generations,” Seacrest, told People at the iHeartRadio Music Festival. “You don’t mess with it, just don’t mess with it. Just get out of the way, say ‘Good evening’ and let’s play.”
