Over the past few years, Savannah Chrisley’s life has been rife with heartache.
Still trying to overcome the pain of losing both her parents to federal prisons, she is also now crushed by the death of her ex, Nic Kerdiles, the former NHL player who died in a crash September 23.
Ahead of his death, Kerdiles accompanied Savannah and her father Todd Chrisley to the federal prison where he’ll spend the next 10 years, in what she says was “a very dark day.”
Sharing the emotional depths of her loss on an Instagram post, Chrisley explains that she’s still in shock and continues to “keep texting” his phone, hoping that he responds.
Following the tragic loss of Nic Kerdiles, Chrisley Knows Best star Savannah Chrisley processed her grief with an emotional post on Instagram, offering fans a glimpse into the relationship she shared with her boyfriend, who died a motorcycle crash.
“I had just turned 20 when we met, you were only 23, we were just kids learning about life and love and trying to make it all work,” Savannah, 26, writes about the man whom she was with five years and engaged from 2018 to 2020. “…the part of our relationship I will hold on to will always be the moments in the middle. It will be the day-to-day life we got to share for 5 incredible years…It will be your absolute and total dependency on Starbucks and how no day could start without it.”
Kerdiles, who was drafted by the Anaheim Ducks in 2012, played a handful of games with the NHL and after retiring as an AHL player with the Manitoba Moose (2018-2019 season), the 29-year-old shifted his focus to real estate.
After three years together, in 2020, the hockey player and the reality star parted ways but in August 2021, the Growing up Chrisley star revealed that she and Kerdiles reunited and were “still trying to figure things out.”
Fate unfortunately had different plans for the pair.
On September 23, about 3:30 a.m., Kerdiles died after he crashed his Indian Motorcycle into an SUV.
Police said the former hockey forward was riding his bike in a residential area in Nashville, where he ran a stop sign and crashed into the driver’s side of a BMW SUV. According to reports, there were no signs of impairment from either.
“It is impossible to believe that you are really gone. I am not sure how to even absorb that news, I don’t know how to react. I am so sad and so numb. I don’t want to believe it… I keep texting your phone and just hope you respond,” Savannah penned on September 26.
Netizens jumped in with heartfelt comments of sympathy and love.
“I’m so sorry savannah. when i heard the news i thought of how difficult this season of life has been for you. i can’t imagine the all around grief,” writes one. A second shares, “Savannah…I ache for you the most…I know yours and Nicks love never died… I’m so sorry for your loss, I hurt for you.”
Referencing her parents, Todd and Julie Chrisley, both who are serving time in federal prisons for fraud, a third cyber user writes, “Omg I know her parents are truly hurting so badly right now that they can’t hold they beautiful daughter in this [2nd] worst thing in her life”
Explaining that the two remained very close, Savannah reveals in the post that earlier this year, Kerdiles accompanied her as she took her father to the Federal Prison Camp Pensacola, where he started his reduced 10-year sentence. Her mother Julie Chrisley is serving her sentence at the Federal Medical Center (FMC) Lexington in Kentucky and has a release date of October 19, 2028.
The 26-year-old writes, “Many people don’t know, they don’t realize, that when it was time to take my father to Pensacola, one of the hardest days of my life, it was YOU who came along for the trip, it was YOU who was there for me and drove me through a very dark day. Thank YOU for that. Thank YOU so much.”
The post includes a carousel of images showing the couple through the years, including their engagement and other tender moments the two shared.
“I will always miss seeing your sweet smile and getting to see your heart on full display. Some things aren’t supposed to last forever, some things come into our life for a season, and our season was precious, it was special, and I am and will always be a better person because I knew you, because I loved you and was loved by you.” The post continues, “Oh gosh… what I wouldn’t do to hear an, “I LOVE YOU KID” right about now. Gosh! I miss you… this isn’t fair!”
Our hearts and thoughts go out to Savannah Chrisley and the family of Nic Kerdiles in their time of mourning. We know it won’t be easy but we hope they can find some peace knowing that he was loved by so many.
