Sandra Bullock just lost her partner of several years after his long battle with ALS. When the news came out, people were shocked, as many did not even know Bryan Randall had been diagnosed with the condition.
Just a few days after his passing, a magazine published a cover story that seemed to upset a lot of people at the insensitivity of it. Keep reading to learn more.
An American magazine has released a shocking story about Sandra Bullock and her late partner Bryan Randall just days after his death. The story is being deemed as a faux pas since it is considered truly inappropriate to speculate about Bullock’s relationship with Randall after he passed away so recently.
The magazine, titled ‘The Star’ published a cover story with text that said, “It’s over” and “Why Bryan walked away after 8 years.” The cover also featured images of the two separately on the cover.
Randall passed away on August 5th, and a statement about his death was issued by his family on August 7th. The cover story is for the magazine’s August 21st issue.
An anonymous source told a magazine that the couple “had relationship issues for months,” and they had also told the children about it as well.
The magazine also shared that they had “heartbreak, jealousy and separate bedrooms,” and it all lead up to the couple deciding to “split.”
The article also claimed the couple had not been seen together in public for a while, and it was because they had “made the difficult decision” to break up.
However, it has been known that Bullock has spent the last few years caring for her partner as he suffered from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). He was diagnosed a few years ago and had a three-year battle with ALS before succumbing to it at age 57.
“It is with great sadness that we share that on August 5, Bryan Randall passed away peacefully after a three-year battle with ALS,” read the statement released by his family.
“Bryan chose early to keep his journey with ALS private and those of us who cared for him did our best to honour his request. We are immensely grateful to the tireless doctors who navigated the landscape of this illness with us and to the astounding nurses who became our roommates, often sacrificing their own families to be with ours,” it went on.
Star magazine claimed it was because Randall was “resentful” of Bullock’s career, and alleged that the couple had gone their separate ways when the actress returned to acting after saying she was taking a break last year.
Randall was in the last stages of ALS, in which patients lose their ability to walk, speak, swallow, and, eventually, breathe. Early signs of ALS are twitches in muscle, cramps, slurring speech, and weakness in the arms, legs, and neck.
The magazine’s story did not make note of either Randall’s illness or his death which makes it all the more concerning, considering it was made public after he had passed away.
Sandra Bullock met Bryan Randall when she hired him to photograph her son Louis’s birthday in January 2015. The couple hit it off and soon after began dating. She was very vocal about her appreciation for him.
In 2021, she said in an interview that she had “found the love of my life” in reference to him.
