The details of Kevin Costner’s divorce are all over the internet these days. Update after update shows how the estranged couple is battling it out over the details of their divorce.
The news first came out that Costner’s estranged wife Christine Baumgartner, was not moving out of their home and demanding a large sum for child support.
According to ET, Baumgartner and her attorney appeared at the hearing in person while Costner attended over Zoom, keeping himself on mute. Costner’s lawyer Laura Wasser attended in person.
The ruling gives Costner a victory in what has been one of the most contentious areas of their divorce. Baumgartner refused to move from the home, even though the terms of their prenup stipulated that she had 30 days to vacate after filing for divorce.
According to Page Six, she said she would only leave if Costner agrees to pay “whatever support fee orders that the court makes” at their upcoming divorce hearing on July 12.
But Costner appealed to the courts to force her out of the home and make her comply with the agreed terms of their prenup.
Costner and Baumgartner were married for 18 years before Baumgartner filed for divorce on May 1, citing “irreconcilable differences.” Costner was reportedly stunned by the filing.
Now a friend of Baumgartner is coming forward with alleged inside information. She says Costner merely wants to get “revenge” on his estranged wife.
“This isn’t about the house, it’s about making Christine’s life a living hell for actually going through with the divorce,” the insider alleged.
The 49-year-old former handbag designer was ordered to vacate the Santa Barbara mansion she lived in with her 68-year-old husband by the end of the month. A judge reinforce the pre-marital agreement the couple had signed together in 2004.
“Christine said she wouldn’t be surprised if Kevin had her escorted off the property by police,” the source added. “It was Christine who wanted to make this transition as peaceful as possible for the sake of the children,” the insider went on.
“Kevin has done the complete opposite. He’s not thinking about the kids, about how traumatizing this is,” the insider lamented.
Although Costner has said he will give Baumgartner $30,000 a month to rent a new property, in addition to $10,000 for moving costs, the insider has said this sum is not enough.
