‘The View’ hosts call for President Biden to step down after abysmal debate performance

If you didn’t catch Thursday night’s presidential debate, don’t worry you didn’t miss much other than the usual spread of misinformation and stumbling over words.

Following the debate, the usual talking heads passionately shared their opinions, and on Friday, even more chimed in.

During the start of their Friday episode, The View hosts spent 10 minutes discussing the presidential debate and demanded one of the candidates step down.

“Most of us are in mourning,” Sunny Hostin said at the beginning of the show.

Although President Biden raised some concerns, he did so “with a hoarse, occasionally weak delivery,” and Trump lied dozens of times in nice, clear voice,” Joy Behar pointed out.

Co-host Sara Haines said the debate was “really hard to watch.”

“It pains me to say this today, but I think President Biden needs to step down and be replaced,” Haines admitted. “If we want to defeat Donald Trump in November then I absolutely think that.”

Haines suggested Biden’s team anticipated his poor performance and that’s why they “pushed for an earlier debate, so they would have time to change course if needed.”

“But they’ve got to act fast, and I would implore those closest with the President to have the very hard conversations they’re going to need to have and not just for political ramifications, but for humanity, his integrity and his legacy. That’s all on the line right now.”

Hostin agreed with Haines that Democrats should consider replacing Biden, however Republicans should also look at a replacement for former president Trump.

Even Alyssa Farah Griffin, a Republican and former member of Trump’s communications team, was “genuinely in shock” after watching the debate.

“Donald Trump was a mess. He lied his way through it, but Joe Biden’s performance was so bad that it eclipsed everything that Donald Trump said,” she said. “He needs to put country before his own ambition and he needs to step aside and pass the baton.”

While most agreed Biden needs to step down and allow a new candidate into the race, Ana Navarro said she would not be calling upon the current president to resign.

“Until Joe Biden tells me he’s giving up, I’m not giving up on Joe Biden. To me, the binary choice remains the same. He looked elderly yesterday, he sounded elderly, he is elderly, but the choice is no different. It’s a very old man versus a very bad man,” she said.

“I’m not going to judge Joe Biden on 90 bad minutes, I’m going to judge Joe Biden on his lifetime career of putting this country first.”

What did you think of Thursday night’s debate? Was there a clear winner or loser?
