A disturbing social media post has resurfaced after a 23-year-old Australian police trainee was charged with sexually abusing a teenage boy, raising questions about the defiant message she shared just weeks before the alleged offences.
While training to become a police officer, Laura Richardson was allegedly involved in a sexual relationship with a boy younger than 17, with prosecutors claiming the two had sexual contact on at least two occasions in June 2026 in Munno Para, a suburb in Adelaide’s north, according to The Sun.
At the time, the 23-year-old Williamstown woman was studying at the Fort Largs Police Academy, preparing to enter a profession dedicated to upholding the very laws she now stands accused of breaking.
With South Australia’s age of consent set at 17, Richardson could face up to 15 years in prison if convicted.
Police trainee appears in court
During her Oct. 20 hearing, Richardson appeared at Adelaide Magistrates Court wearing dark sunglasses and a face mask, accompanied by her lawyer and a supporter.
Prosecutors requested another 12 weeks to gather outstanding evidence before the case could proceed, including forensic results and information from Richardson’s mobile phone.
“Your Honor, there are some outstanding materials…some DNA reports, some further SAPOL affidavits, a review of the accused’s phone and some Yarrow Place report,” prosecutors told the court, according to the Daily Mail.
Yarrow Place is a specialist sexual assault support service based in North Adelaide, and its reports are among the materials prosecutors are waiting to obtain.
Richardson’s lawyer, Stephen Ey, told the court that the charges were not admitted and that no plea negotiations were taking place, according to local reporting.
Woman hasn’t yet entered plea
The woman was initially granted police bail following her arrest in July, and that arrangement was continued after the hearing, allowing her to remain out of custody while the allegations are examined.
Neither Richardson nor her legal representatives answered reporters’ questions as they left the courthouse, and the case is scheduled to return to court in January 2027.
Richardson has yet to enter a plea and is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
But while the legal proceedings continue, attention has turned to something she shared on social media just weeks before the alleged offences.
Disturbing TikTok message resurfaces
Following Richardson’s arrest, several videos from her social media accounts attracted attention, including one TikTok clip posted on May 19, approximately a month before the alleged offences, the Daily Mail reports.
In the video, shared under the username @raura.lichardson, Richardson can be seen lip-syncing to “IDGAF” by Drake and Yeat, mouthing the words “I do whatever I want.”
“I. Do. Whatever. I. Want,” she wrote, repeating the same defiant message in the caption.
Her TikTok account has since been made private, while the police trainee remains suspended on full taxpayer-funded pay, according to Australian media reports.
