Celebrating their 25th anniversary, Victoria and David Beckham recreated their purple look that dazzled wedding guests at their reception on July 4, 1999.
“They still fit,” writes the queen of fashion, who in the photo shoot takes her place on a deep purple throne next to Beckham, the king of football.

Before David Beckham ever met Victoria Adams – better known as Posh Spice – he saw her on TV with the Spice Girls and declared that she was the one he would marry.
“I was in a hotel room with my best friend, who was my best man at my wedding,” recalled the Manchester United football star. “I remember turning around – before I’d even met Victoria – and said, ‘I want to marry that one.’”
In 1997, the two met for a brief moment and David thought he blew it.
“She came to a football match – soccer match – and I said ‘hi’ from across the room and that was it,” the 49-year-old said. “I thought I’d missed my chance.”
People reports that the shaggy haired football star had a more involved meeting with the singer-turned fashion designer at another football match only one week later.
“We talked for about an hour in the players’ lounge and then she actually got the train up that day, so she wrote her number down on her train ticket, which I still have,” he gushed.
And their fate was sealed.
Matching purple outfits
The couple was engaged in 1998 and in the same year, they announced they were expecting their first child, Brooklyn, who was born March 4, 1999.
Months later, their son served as the ring bearer when his mom and dad were married in a ceremony that included celebrity guests like footballers, Spice Girls, Elton John and George Michael.
During the nuptials, Victoria wore a shimmering strapless Vera Wang gown with a sweeping 20-foot train that she paired with an 18-karat gold tiara.
For the reception, the newlyweds slipped into purple outfits for the couple’s entrance as Mr. and Mrs. Beckham. David carried baby Brooklyn, who wore a matching purple suit and a little purple top hat.
‘They still fit’
Celebrating their 25th anniversary on July 4, the couple – who expanded their family with sons Romeo, (21) and Cruz (19), and daughter Harper (12) – recreated the iconic co-ordinating purple looks from their 1999 wedding reception.
“Look what we found…” Victoria, 50, captions a July 3 Facebook post, which includes an image of her and her handsome husband, seated on two thrones that match their majestic purple outfits.
And though there were a couple of wardrobe malfunctions – David reportedly ripped his jacket and Victoria broke the zipper of her gown – they both “still fit” and look incredible in the outfits they wore decades ago.
One follower, remembering the purple look from 25 years ago, writes, “Your wedding party outfits. You both looked amazing then and even better now…Like fine wine.”
Meanwhile, another said she was inspired by the unique attire: “Loved this dress, had one made in the same colour after.”
Offering fans a glimpse into their wedding day preparations, Victoria later shared more pictures of the big day in 1999.
She writes, “Looking back on the days leading up to our wedding 25 years ago brings back so many amazing memories.”
The images show a 25-year-old Victoria and David, who was 24, testing their “thrones for size,” writing wows and the bride in her stunning wedding gown.
“I remember buying OK magazine all them years ago just to see the dress, beautiful pictures,” writes one netizen.
A second shares, “I remember these times like yesterday. Pure happiness in your smile [Victoria] in the photo with your outfit.”
‘Perfect finish’
Lastly, the fashion mogul shares photos that were snapped in July 2024, where they are sitting on their new thrones – far more impressive than the original red ones.
David is seen holding a stuffed bear in the little purple outfit, hat included, that was worn by Brooklyn, who’s now 25.
“Just the three of us at home, watching TV. Perfect finish to a special anniversary! I love you so much [David] [Brooklyn],” she shares.
Fans again jumped into the comments section, offering their praise and wishes.
“Happy Anniversary you look amazing even better than your actual day, and [you] brought up such an amazing family,” pens one.
“Like a fine wine you two!!! Absolutely gorgeous,” writes a second while another shares, “royal colors and you guys nailed it!”
