Whoopi Goldberg and her The View co-hosts slammed President Donald Trump for his appearance during a recent transfer ceremony following the deaths of several U.S. service members in Iran.
Since the beginning of the ongoing conflict involving the U.S., Israel, and Iran, seven U.S. personnel have lost their lives. Dubbed ‘Operation Epic Fury’, the joint efforts of Donald Trump and Israeli leader Benjamin Netanyahu are supposedly aimed at eradicating a totalitarian regime and preventing Iran’s access to nuclear weapons.
As per the latest reports, more than 1,300 Iranian civilians have been killed, while at least seven U.S. service members have lost their lives.
The remains of six U.S. soldiers were returned home during a dignified transfer ceremony on March 7. Video footage showed President Trump saluting the caskets as they arrived at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware, though he was criticized for his attire.
Trump’s decision to wear a brilliant white cap on his head during the ceremony (and not take it off), drew the ire of The View‘s co-hosts, including outspoken Trump critic Whoopi Goldberg.
“When those caskets came off the plane, take your damn hat off,” the actor said. “Take your damn hat off.”

The View crowd erupted in applause at the comments.
Goldberg continued: “I didn’t understand why nobody pulled his coat tail and said [something]. Just out of respect.”
Fellow host Sunny Hostin agreed with Goldberg’s comments, praising former president Barack Obama for his handling of such ceremonies when he was in the White House hotseat.
Trump has also come in for criticism online, with a number of commenters sharing Goldber’s opinion that he should have at least removed his hat when saluting the fallen soldiers.
“Politics aside, the fallen deserve our absolute respect. No hats, no excuses,” one person wrote.
Another added: “This fool has ABSOLUTELY no sense of dignity or appreciation for the moment.”
A third said: “It is called the Dignified Transfer for a reason. Take your damn hat off!!”
Speaking at his Doral Golf Club in Miami on Saturday, Trump called the service members ‘great heroes’.
He said: “Very sad situation to greet the families of the heroes coming home from Iran — coming home in a different manner than they thought they’d be coming home.
“Sadly, there will likely be more. Before it ends, that’s the way it is. Likely be more.”
What did you make of Trump’s conduct during the ceremony? Let us know in the comments.
