Queen Camilla reveals King Charles’ “very off-putting” habit

King Charles and Queen Camilla have been married for years. But even in a loving marriage, some things aren’t perfect. Now, Queen Camiöla has revealed one habit of her husband’s that she finds “off-putting.”

Queen Camilla has always been a big fan of reading, and she has taken the opportunity to help others find the passion as well.

In 2021, she launched a new initiative, The Duchess of Cornwall’s Reading Room, a book club featuring reading recommendations and more. It’s been a huge success. However, these days, it is of course called The Queen’s Reading Room.

Last year, Majesty Magazine editor-in-chief Ingrid Seward told The Sun that it has been hugely successful.

“Camilla’s podcast has been a great success. She has proven many times over she can bring in any of the big names from the world of the arts she wants,” Seward said.

Besides the book club, Camilla also launched her own podcast, The Queen’s Reading Room, which is a part of her book club. Reading has always been a huge interest of hers, and it appears that the same goes for King Charles.

However, reading together does not always appear to be a good thing. In a new BBC Arts Documentary, The Book That Changed My Life, set to air on October 14, Queen Camilla offered a glimpse into her evening routine with Charles.

It appears that they enjoy reading together before having dinner – but it’s not always that easy. In fact, Camila revealed that her husband has a habit she describes as “off-putting.”

“I occasionally, when I’m deep in a book, hear him roaring with laughter about something,” Queen Camilla says in the documentary, per GB News. “It’s very off-putting. I can’t get back into my book.”

The Queen added that “it’s a lovely quiet time” and that she thinks “it would be a complete and utter tragedy if books went forever.”

Queen Camilla stated in the documentary that literature has a “transformative power,” saying that reading is “like the best tonic in the world.”

Her passion for writing began when she was only a child, as her father used to read books for her and her siblings.

“We must’ve been very, very young when my father started reading to us,” she said, per GB News. “I think that’s where my love of reading came from.”

Why King Charles and Queen Camilla don’t share the same bedroom

The glimpse into Camilla and King Charles’ private life is very rare. However, earlier reports have described how they go about life behind palace walls and away from the spotlight.

For example, the Daily Mail reported in 2017 that the couple doesn’t share a bedroom. According to a Daily Mail source, their London residence, Clarence House, has three bedrooms.

“[His Royal Highness] has a room with a double bed, decorated to his own taste, then Camilla has her own room with a double bed, decorated just the way she likes it,” the insider said. “In addition, they have a shared bedroom with a double bed that they can use whenever they like. The arrangement suits them perfectly.”

Whether that arrangement still stands is unknown as of today. What is clear, however, is that King Charles and Queen Camilla appear to enjoy each other’s company to the fullest, even if it’s interrupted by a laugh or two during their cozy reading hour.
