Jared Mauldin is studying mechanical engineering at Eastern Washington University, USA. He gave some thought to the way his female classmates were treated, observing that men and women in technical and scientific departments seemed to be viewed and dealt with differently. It’s based on this realization that he wrote a letter to the university newspaper The Easterner — a letter that has now caught the attention of international media and is spreading by the thousands online. The letter really shed light on a problem that is unfortunately not only prevalent within fields of science and research. I think everyone should take a minute to read it.
