The holiday season is in full swing which means baked goods galore!
According to a 2015 survey, 93% of Americans bake during the holidays.
This year, while inflation has impacted some people’s holiday activities, a recent survey from Monmouth University found that 69% of Americans still plan to make Christmas candy, cookies, or desserts.
When it comes to cookies, just about half of the surveyed population was able to come up with a single choice for their favorite Christmas cookie.
So what do you think the top choice is? Grandma’s signature gingerbread or perhaps a recipe that claims to be the “best ever” sugar cookie?
According to Monmouth University, America’s favorite Christmas cookie is a frosted sugar cookie.
Thirty-six percent of the respondents voted for the sugar cookie, while 12% replied gingerbread was their favorite, and 11% said chocolate chip was their favorite.
“If you want to please your family’s palate this holiday season, your best bet is icing up a batch of Christmas tree or snowflake shaped sugar cookies. But frankly, you really can’t go wrong with pretty much any cookie on this list,” said Patrick Murray, the director of the polling institute.
And we agree!
Make a plate with any variety of cookie and you’ll automatically be a crowd favorite because there’s nothing like homemade cookies at Christmastime!
