Nothing beats the smell of cinnamon buns. I can smell them from a mile away, and as soon as I do, I find myself unable to resist the temptation to walk right over and buy a whole tray of them.
But the truth is, bakeries need to make a profit, and they often cut corners on ingredients. And I guess that’s why homemade cinnamon buns taste so much better.
The only problem is that my cinnamon buns often turn out looking less than perfect. It’s almost impossible to cut them into individual pieces without crushing them and ruining their shape.
So when I saw this recipe, I was thrilled. Not only does the recipe use the best ingredients and make amazing cinnamons, it also includes a trick to make them look as good as store-bought ones.
I’ve never seen it before, but it’s so clever that I wanted to share it with all of you out there who love to bake.

What you need:
For the dough:
1/3 cup melted butter
1 cup warm milk
2 1/2 teaspoons of rapid rise dry yeast
4 cups flour
1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs
For the filling:
1/2 cup softened butter
1 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons cinnamon
For the frosting:
16 ounces cream cheese
1/2 cup softened butter
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions:
1. Pour the warm milk, eggs, melted butter, flour, sugar, and yeast into a breadmaker or large bowl.
2. Knead the dough, cover it with plastic wrap, and let it rise for 30 minutes.
3. In the meantime, mix together the brown sugar and cinnamon.
4. Next, roll the dough flat.
5. Brush the softened butter on top of the dough…
6. … and then sprinkle it with brown sugar and cinnamon.
7. Roll up the dough.
8. Now, for the special trick. Tie the dental floss around the dough and pull tight…
9. You’ll get perfect cuts without losing the shape of each cinnamon roll.
10. Next, place the rolls in a lightly greased baking pan and bake at 400F or 200C for 15 minutes.
11. While you’re waiting, whip together the frosting with the cream cheese, melted butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract.
12. Remove the buns from the oven, cover them with frosting, and your mouthwatering treats are ready!
