You should be eating turmeric every day – and here are two ways to do it

Turmeric is a spice which many people have at home tucked away on a shelf, but may not be used very often.

However, there are several surprisingly good reasons why you should reach for the turmeric a little more often.

It’s part of the ginger family, which have been used for over 4,000 years to treat a variety of symptoms, particularly in China and India.

Studies have shown that turmeric can be an effective weapon to curb infections, inflammations, digestive problems, and even certain types of cancer.

Therefore, we recommend two simple and tasty recipes that will help you get a healthy dose of turmeric every day.

Turmeric + Honey + Milk

Warm milk with honey is a true classic during the winter months.

Hot milk with turmeric, on the other hand, is still a relatively unknown combination here in Europe – though, in India is a very popular traditional drink.

Drinking turmeric also had the added benefit of creating a protective layer in the mouth and throat, preventing bacteria from growing in these areas. The drink warms the body from the inside, making it idea for the cold seasons.


What you need:

1 tsp Turmeric

200 ml Milk or Almond Milk

Brown Sugar and Cinnamon to taste

Heat 200 ml milk or almond milk in a saucepan until it becomes hot enough. Add one teaspoon of turmeric to the milk. Stir until the yellow powder has completely dissolved into the milk. Then, you can flavor your healthy comforting drink with cinnamon or brown sugar.


Hot lemon-drink with turmeric

This vitamin bomb will give you genuine protection against colds. Lemon is packed with vitamin C, and antioxidant that is said to be good for connective tissue, metabolism, nutrient absorption, and a line of defence against colds and infections. 

Turmeric is one of the best natural anti-inflammatory methods. It contains over two dozen different anti-inflammatory agents and can help with headaches and nausea.

For an extra vitamin boost and flavour kick, try adding ginger.



All you need is:

Lemon Juice (fresh squeezed)
¼ tsp Turmeric
Ginger (to taste)


Peel the ginger and add it to your mug. Boil the water and fill the cup ¾ full. Let the water cool down a bit before adding the lemon juice, so that the heat of the water does not damage the vitamins. Finish by pouring in turmeric.



These two recipes should be a great way to introduce a healthy dose of turmeric into your diet, especially considering how beneficial it really is.
