If you’re anything like me, you get really cold at night and especially during the winter. Therfore, I always sleep with socks on.

Before you get grossed out — I of course put on a fresh and clean pair. Personally, I usually fall asleep in a blink of an eye but I never thought I might have my socks to thank for that.

Some might call me crazy — but before you dismiss all of us “sock folks” you should read this.

According to researchers, there are several advantages of sleeping with socks on.

Socks help warm your feet up and dilate the blood vessels at the same time. This then signals the brain that it’s time to go to sleep, according to the researchers.

There is a clear link between enlarged blood vessels and how fast we fall asleep, according to studies at the University of Basel, Switzerland.

According to a study reported by the BBC, researchers have discovered that women who slept with socks on had an increased chance and ability to achieve an orgasm. Of the participants who were wearing socks, 80 percent of couples reached an orgasm. The ones without socks? Only 50 percent.

From the same study published by the BBC, Professor Gert Holstege claims that another key to female orgasm is that she feels safe and comfortable. Apparently, socks can help doing just that.

Wearing clean cotton socks after moisturizing your feet with a good foot cream can prevent dry heels from cracking, according Healthline. However — DO NOT use the same socks you’ve worn all day. That can increase the risk of bacterial and fungal infections.

Raynaud’s disease affects an estimated 28 million people in the US, according the Raynaud’s Association.

The disease causes the blood vessels to respond abnormally to cold, mainly affecting the small vessels in the hands and feet.

Wearing socks at night can help prevent an attack by keeping your feet warm and allowing blood to circulate.
