It’s easy to forget just how quickly time passes, and even easier to miss the changes that are going on as it does.
Often it’s when we see someone after a long period of not seeing them that we realize just how different they may have become, either in looks or character. When you’re exposed to someone every day, you’re blind to the process at hand, and so the changes don’t register until you take a step back and actually look for them.
It happens a lot to me with celebrities, and even more so where their children are concerned. On occasion I’ll see a picture of a former child star who was famous twenty years ago, and it quite literally blows my mind when I’m forced to accept that they’re all grown-up and look absolutely nothing like how I remember them.
Perhaps that’s why there’s so much buzz currently surrounding the daughter of the legendary King of Pop, Michael Jackson. Paris Jackson was naturally born into the limelight given the stratospheric reputation of her father, but today she’s 24 years old and steadily crafting a career of her own in the entertainment industry.

Paris Jackson is only 24 years of age, but as the second child of the legendary musician Michael Jackson, she’s been a celebrity her entire life.
Following the passing of her father, Paris struggled with many things. Now, however, the talented young woman is pursuing her own career in music.
One thing’s for sure, and that’s that she turned plenty of heads at the Fashion Trust US Awards in Hollywood on Tuesday night. Her leggy outfit included a deep, V-neck cut golden gown that shimmered as she walked, as well as a rhinestone-studded belt.
Flaunting her many tattoos, Paris also donned a number of rings and bracelets, as well as sporting a nose ring. Needless to say, the internet at large was taken back by her stunning beauty.
“I didn’t even realize that was Paris Jackson,” one person commented.
“Legit looks just like him (Michael Jackson)… idk why folks questioned it at all,” another said.
“Is this Paris Jackson????!!” A third pondered.
Another added: “That’s Paris Jackson?! I had no idea”
Only last month, the 24-year-old sat down for an interview with Allure, in which she discussed her opinions on fashion.
“I dress for comfort when I’m not working and ’90s [beauty and fashion] is pretty comfortable for me,” she said. “I like to stick with the darker colors, the earth tones.”
She added: “I just take [ideas] from a lot of the things that I like. Nothing’s really mine; it’s just a melting pot of my favorites, I guess.”
Paris lived all over the world during her childhood days, as her father toured across the globe to play in front of hundreds of thousands of people.
She says she was very grateful about her “privileged” childhood. But at the same time, Paris learned early on that she shouldn’t feel entitled. Her father made sure that the children understood the concept of having to put in work in order to get things.
“Even growing up it was about earning stuff,” she said. “If we wanted five toys from FAO Schwarz or Toys ‘R’ Us, we had to read five books.
“It’s earning it, not just being entitled to certain things or thinking ‘oh I got this’. It’s like working for it, working hard for it, it’s something else entirely, it’s an accomplishment.”
Tragic passing of Michael Jackson
On June 25, 2009, Michael Jackson suffered cardiac arrest at his home and passed away shortly after being transported to a nearby hospital. Paris and her brothers ended up in the legal care of their grandmother, Katherine Jackson, as per Michael’s will.
During her father’s televised memorial service, the 11-year-old Paris stood in front of the whole world to say a few words about her father.
“Ever since I was born, daddy has been the best father you could ever imagine,” she said. “And I just wanted to say I love him so much.”
I can’t be the only one who misses Michael Jackson, but it makes my heart warm to see his children growing up into successful individuals in their own right.
