Ariana Grande admits to being on ‘a lot of antidepressants’ in lowest time of her life

Ariana Grande has revealed she used a “lot of antidepressants” during the lowest period of her life.

The global singing sensation posted a candid video on TikTok wherein she lashed out at body-shamers and trolls who target people over their appearance.

The 29-year-old admitted to drinking alcohol while taking anti-depressants and eating poorly during a time when she says people thought she had a healthy body.

Grande began her honest video by opening up to her legions of followers regarding her own insecurities and a tough time she endured. The Side to Side singer explained how she “doesn’t like” and “isn’t good at” making open comments about herself, but insisted she had to speak out to address concerns from some members of her fan base about her body.

Grande became a target of comments accusing her of promoting unhealthy beauty standards recently, with people online claiming she was too skinny.

The artist herself made a video in response, stating:

“The body that you’ve been comparing my current body to was the unhealthiest version of my body.

“I was on a lot of antidepressants, drinking on them, eating poorly, and at the lowest point of my life when I looked the way you consider ‘my healthy’. But that, in fact, wasn’t ‘my healthy’.

“And I know I shouldn’t have to explain that but I do feel like maybe having an openness and some sort of vulnerability here will be… something good might come of it.”

As for the body-shamers themselves, Grande took a firm position in asserting that society should be “less comfortable” in commenting on other people’s bodies.

“I just wanted to address your concerns about my body and talk a little bit about what it means to be a person with a body and to be seen and to be paid such close attention to,” she went on.

“I think we should be gentler and less comfortable commenting on people’s bodies, no matter what.

“If you think you’re saying something good or well intentioned, whatever it is: healthy, unhealthy, big, small, this, that, sexy, not sexy… we just shouldn’t.

“We should really work towards not doing that as much.”

The 29-year-old singer concluded: “There are many different kinds of beautiful. There are many different ways to look healthy and beautiful.”

Well, I think we can all agree in some way with Ariana Grande. Words have the potential to be more powerful than many of us realize sometimes, and maybe she’s right, maybe we have become too comfortable with dishing out opinions on other people’s bodies.

Join us sending love and hope to Ariana Grande. I think it’s so sad that she endured a tough period and no one knew about it.

Meanwhile, share this article if you hope that in the future we will all be a little better at being kind to one another.
